Help

Duties include at the GS-14 but not limited to:

  • Planning, coordinating, and managing pandemic investigative initiatives within the Office of Investigations and between other OIG components.
  • Assess the effectiveness of pandemic related programs and participate in strategic decision-making and policy discussions to develop, revise, and strengthen oversight.
  • Promote proactive data analytics designed to identify and highlight fraud trends to detect and deter pandemic related fraud.
  • Investigating suspected violators include highly organized activities interwoven with legitimate business activities and seemingly respectable organizations, such as providers of health care services and equipment, hospitals and nursing homes, and home health agencies in various locations nationwide.
  • Overseeing and facilitating programs under the incumbent's purview, including programs directly connected to the pandemic response and associated pandemic programs.
  • Representing the Special Agent in Charge at conferences and meetings to give presentations on behalf of OI and participates in professional problem solving of highly complex investigations.
  • Responsible for advising and making recommendations to senior OIG/OI staff regarding issues in litigation and implementation of administrative sanctions.
  • Initiates discussions and/or meetings with key internal and external stakeholders to clarify or resolve concerns.
  • Preparing, reviewing, and analyzing investigative reports, proposals, and position papers to achieve program objectives that are consistent with OI and OIG policy.
  • Conducts a wide-range of special studies, research and analysis relative to issues of investigative importance to OI and prepares and presents briefings on these subjects.

GS-14 Specialized Experience:For the GS-14 applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate: Experience providing (1) Coordinating and implementing investigative programs (2) Conducting and reporting on a multi-faceted criminal investigations; and (3) Providing briefings and verbal reports on program areas to senior officials in addition to making recommendations on program weaknesses.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume should include the dates of all qualifying experience (from month/year to month/year) and the number of hours worked/volunteered per week. Federal experience is not required. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-timework is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week, on your resume.

Additional information

Recruitment Incentives: Payment for relocation expenses is not authorized for this position. A recruitment bonus is not offered. Repayment of student loans are not offered. Private sector work experience will not be approved as credit for your Annual Leave accrual.

Security and Background Requirements: A Top-Secret clearance may be required to be obtained and maintained and a credit check is required. If not previously completed, a background security investigation will be required for all appointees. Appointment will be subject to the applicant's successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet these requirements may be grounds for appropriate personnel action. In addition, if hired, a background security reinvestigation or supplemental investigation may be required at a later time. Applicants are also advised that all information concerning qualifications is subject to investigation. Appropriate documentation such as a reduction-in-force (RIF) separation notice, an SF-50 reflecting your RIF separation, or a notice of proposed removal for declining a directed reassignment or transfer of function to another commuting area. You MUST also submit documentation to reflect your current (or last) performance rating of record along with your application package. Those eligible for consideration will need to be rated as well-qualified at 85.0 or above on the rating criteria for this position in order to exercise selection priority.
