Internships - This is a temporary appointment beginning early June/mid-June 2026 Not to Exceed 90 days from EOD Date, with September 30, 2026, as the final possible end date.
The incumbent works under the guidance of senior IT Specialists analyzing business and technical requirements for IT systems, applications, workflows, and operational processes in support of agency mission needs.
Participates in IT projects involving system modernization, cloud services, cybersecurity compliance, digital process automation, and enterprise application support.
Conducts research and analytical evaluations of IT issues, system performance, and user requirements to identify trends and support improvement recommendations.
Develops dashboards, reports, and briefing materials that translate complex technical data into clear, actionable information for management and stakeholders.
Supports IT operations and governance activities, including system monitoring, testing, troubleshooting, documentation (including SOPs), and coordination with stakeholders.
Assists in ensuring compliance with federal IT policies, standards, and procedures through documentation support, issue tracking, and participation in operational reviews and reporting activities.

Qualifications
The Pathways Internship Program is open to all eligible students regardless of age, including older individuals and veterans who are students. Program participants may be appointed to any grade level for which they qualify. Previous education and/or experience may be evaluated to determine the highest grade level for which the individual is qualified.
Below are the minimum qualification requirements for each grade advertised:
GS-7 Student Trainee (Information Technology): Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples include: planning and delivery of IT Customer support services; resolving customer related technical software and hardware problems in accordance with established policies and procedure; assists users in resolving technical computer problems and malfunctions; provides technical support to users for computer software; installs new software, versions, and updates; adapts, configures and tests computer software. OR
Successfully completed (1) year of graduate education from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics operations research, statistics, or technology management or a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. (Must submit copy of transcripts); OR
Successfully completed a Bachelor's degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management with one of the following: I graduated with at least an overall GPA of 2.95, or I graduated with at least a 3.45 GPA in my major or during the last two years of college; or I graduated in the top third of my class; or I have been a member of a national scholastic honor society recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies. (Must submit copy of transcripts); OR
Possess a combination of specialized experience and graduate education that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position (Must submit copy of transcripts).

(Must submit copy of transcripts); OR
Successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management. (Must submit copy of transcripts); OR
Possess a combination of specialized experience and graduate education that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position (Must submit copy of transcripts).
In addition to meeting the above minimum qualification requirement, you must meet the Pathways Internship Program Eligibility requirements: you must be a current student in an accredited high school, college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate.
Applicants must meet the definition of a "Student" at the time of appointment and throughout the duration of the appointment. Student is defined as: an individual who has been accepted for enrollment or enrolled and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) in a qualifying educational institution, on a full or half-time basis (as defined by the institution in which the student is enrolled).
ATTENTION VETERANS: A veteran, as defined in 5 U.S.C. 2108, who due to military service obligation, was precluded from applying to the Recent Graduates Program during any portion of the 2-year eligibility period shall have a full 2-year period of eligibility upon his or her release or discharge from active duty. In no event, however, may the individual's eligibility period extend beyond 6 years from the date on which the individual completed the requirements of an academic course of study.
