Duties

Help

  • Assesses the overall sustainment of space weapon systems across multiple service components and units.
  • Serves as the technical authority on space weapon system sustainment, readiness, and other assigned technical areas in consultation with Joint Staff, Service Components, and subordinate units.
  • Oversees assessments and new initiatives related to space weapon system sustainment.
  • Monitors worldwide location, configuration, condition and operational status of all USSPACECOM weapon systems using various classified and unclassified automated management systems.

Qualifications

Conditions of Employment Continued:

This position has been designated as an acquisition position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP). Employee must meet, or be capable of meeting, Defense Acquisition Work Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position.

Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 15 days per year.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Miscellaneous Administration and Program Series 0301.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-II, equivalent to the next to lower grade GS-11 or equivalent in the Federal Service. Specialized experience must include extensive knowledge of a broad range of space weapon systems, capabilities, support or sustainment requirements, systems owner/operators, associated contract, and overall structure supporting national defense. Advanced knowledge of Logistics Core Functions, Classes of Supply and the Planning, Programming and Budgeting System (PPBS) of the Department of Defense. Comprehensive knowledge of policies, concepts, and procedures affecting logistics, acquisition, supply, inventory management, logistics planning and procurement functions.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Extensive knowledge of a broad range of space weapon systems, capabilities, support or sustainment requirements, systems owner/operators, associated contract, and overall structure supporting national defense.
2. Advanced knowledge of Logistics Core Functions, Classes of Supply and the Planning, Programming and Budgeting System (PPBS) of the Department of Defense.
3. Comprehensive knowledge of policies, concepts, and procedures affecting logistics, acquisition, supply, inventory management, logistics planning and procurement functions.
4. Ability to gather data, organize, lead or participate in special studies, and present findings across different organizations and commands to identify problems and develop innovative solutions.
5. Ability to lead teams; originate new ideas, projects, and methodologies; and execute projects within established guidelines.
6. Exceptional ability to solve broad organizational issues, implement strategic plans within and across organizational components, and ensure a cooperative teamwork environment.
7. Advanced skill sufficient to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; negotiate complex issues; and maintain good working relationships with diverse groups and executive-level command management.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

AcqDemo Expanded Probationary Period for Supervisors and Managers: An additional supervisory probationary period of one year may be required when an employee is officially assigned to a different supervisory position.

This is an acquisition demonstration project position NH-II equivalent to a GS-12 to GS-13.
