About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Manatee Cove Marina on Patrick SFB, FL. This position includes the opportunity to enroll in Health and Life Insurance, 401K and Retirement, Annual and Sick Leave.

This position requires shift work to provide coverage on days, evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Scheduled hours will be 35-40 per week.

Duties

Help

Plans the use of workers, equipment, materials, facilities, 1001, etc., on a week-to-week basis. Plans self-help projects for marina facilities. Adheres to work priorities and work sequences. Plans work assignments IAW methods and policies set by Marina Manager or higher-level supervisor. Tracks and reports progress on work assignments, and requests authority to use overtime, if needed. Coordinates work with supporting or related work functions controlled by the Marina Manager or higher level supervisor. Determines number and type of workers needed to accomplish specific projects. Redirects individual workers to accomplish unanticipated work. Provides input on initial planning of current and future marina maintenance needs. Provides input for operating and capital requirements in order to meet mission requirements and effectively maintain the marina and its equipment.

Provides supervision to marina maintenance workers while performing facility and equipment maintenance, dock repair, Vehicle vessel operations and grounds maintenance duties ensuring accomplishment of those duties and related tasks. Provides technical direction and/or help in accomplishing difficult work steps and processes. Oversees work progress to meet scheduled deadlines. Inspects marina facilities, docks, clubhouse, equipment. and tools to ensure proper maintenance. Ensures repairs are accomplished and or are identified and submitted to Base Civil Engineering for proper repair/replacement. Reports any actual or potential work delays or potential loss or wet slip or dry storage rental fees due to maintenance issues to the Marina Manager.

Provides, support, set up and maintenance of all wet slip and dry storage account files. Maintains a rental inventory for wet slips and dry storage. Processes new and renewal Slip Holder/Transient Agreements and insures all required yearly documentation is maintained in member files. Assures all safety and environmental regulatory requirements are observed and properly documented. Maintains maintenance, training, safety, and environmental reports and records as required. Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of equipment to make sure they are in good mechanical and safe operating condition. Performs routine inspection and minor maintenance on marina vehicles, docks, and vessels. Maintains bench stock levels of parts. materials, tools. and equipment at prescribed levels, and orders required supplies, through the proper purchasing procedures.

Supports and explains management programs to subordinates. Implements all procedures and policies relative to the Manatee Cove Marina maintenance operation. Plans, establishes and schedules leave; sets performance standards; selects the most suitable applicants for vacancies, determines performance ratings, and training needs; and prepares and recommends disciplinary actions. Accounts for the quantity and quality of work performed by subordinates. Advises and counsels workers on how to improve their performance, and explains new work techniques. Implements corrective actions within authority to resolve work problems. Recommends solutions to staffing problems, work operations, etc., as appropriate to the Marina Manager. investigates grievances and complaints; resolves them informally, notifying supervisor of those of sufficient importance or seriousness.

Performs minor construction and repair on existing structures involving standard measurements, specifications, instructions, and basic shop mathematics. Utilizes hand and power tools such as drills, power saws, routers, standard hand tools, straight edge, chalk line, tapes, rules, caulking items, pipe wrenches, rollers, paint brushes, putty knife, etc. Prepares wood and metal surfaces to be painted, mixes and prepares coating material, and applies coating materials. Prepares surfaces by scraping, wire brushing, masking, spackling, and sand surfacing. Replaces worn faucets and fixtures, clears clogged drains and performs other basic plumbing tasks as required. Makes minor electrical repairs by replacing switches, sockets, electrical cords and bulbs. Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of gasoline powered equipment to ensure equipment is in good mechanical and safe operating conditions. Performs routine maintenance such as oil change, minor adjustments, spark plug cleaning and replacement on equipment. Performs minor repair to lawnmowers, hand tools, ice machine, vacuum cleaners and gas pumps. Performs routine inspection and minor maintenance on marina vehicles/vessels to include oil changes, battery checks, and condition of brakes, filling tanks with gasoline, checking fluid levels, hoses, and filters, changing fan belts, and replacing lights.

Drives vehicles weighing up to 10,000 pounds to various locations both on and off base.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have supervisory experience and a demonstrated ability to lead and manage subordinates. Must have knowledge & experience in carpentry, plumbing, & painting trades/occupations with an advanced working knowledge of vessel operations and maintenance. Must have demonstrated the ability to troubleshoot and determine the need for repair and servicing facilities, utilities, and equipment. Requires the ability to plan, schedule and direct the work operations of subordinates and a basic knowledge and skill in the use of tools of the trade. Must be able to lift, bend, and work in awkward positions both indoors and outdoors. Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds and heavier with assistance. Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license. Must successfully complete a preemployment physical. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a Tier I, National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.

Education
