Duties

Help
  • Ensure compliance with all prescribed internal control standards
  • Provide authoritative professional opinions based on precedent actions
  • Apply mechanical engineering knowledge focused on facilities and building design and construction proficiencies, skills, and abilities
  • Review work products to ensure satisfactory accomplishment in conformance with established practices and procedures
  • Review data for technical and functional adequacy
  • Prepare and present progress reports and documents to update organizational leaders and end users on a routine basis
  • Provide technical engineering guidance in accordance with the Army installation facilities standards
  • Interpret applicable policy and regulatory directives
  • Keep abreast of developments and trends in engineering sciences, techniques, and standards
  • Perform design reviews of all plans, engineering calculations, specifications, estimates, and technical documents
  • Propose and manage feasibility of modifications to plans and designs
  • Create designs, plans, and project specifications

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) plan, design, develop specifications, and manage multiple projects 2) review all plans, engineering calculations, specifications, estimates, and technical documents to ensure constructability and adherence to regulations 3) discuss, clarify, and coordinate project designs and construction with end users, stakeholders, technical experts, and other agencies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
