Summary
THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK SERVICES), Position Description Number T60019P1 and is part of the 224 ADG, National Guard.

As an ITSPECIALIST (NETWORK SERVICES), you will serve as a base systems administrator to monitor the Local and Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN), including the planning, analysis, acquisition, design, development, implementation, quality assurance, configuration, installation, integration, maintenance testing, operational integrity, and/or management of networked systems for the transmission of information in voice, data, and/or video formats.
Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
May be required to successfully complete a two year trial period.
Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
May be required to travel by car, in military and/or commercial aircraft, and by other means of transportation as appropriate to perform temporary duty assignments
Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver’s license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.
For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.
Qualifications
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, and/or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have one year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade. Must have experience, education, or training that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls. Experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment. Experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion.

Education
If you are using only education to qualify for this position,
Must have Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in related field
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in related field.
Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

This position is an indefinite appointment that may be made permanent later without competition. Employees hired under indefinite appointments may not exceed 5 years (consecutive) time with the agency. If a permanent employee accepts this indefinite position, their tenure will change from permanent to indefinite.

This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration. Head of Agency requests to exceed 14 days in a calendar year must be approved in advance by the National Guard, Director of Manpower and Personnel
-Incumbent is required to satisfactorily complete the appropriate training and obtain the required certification/recertification for this position as outlined in DOD Publication 8570.01-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, dated 19 December 2005 (incorporating change 3, 24 Jan 2013 or current version).Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002, Clinger Cohen Act of 1996 and obtain Special Experience Identifier (SEI) 264, IAW current AF directives. Information Assurance - Technical Level II (IAT II), IAW current AF directives.) Personnel assigned to this position must obtain the appropriate certification within six months of being assigned. Failure to satisfactorily obtain and/or maintain updated certifications in accordance with publication listed are grounds for termination.
