Duties

Help
  • Conducts investigations to apprehend and/or detain persons committing crimes against persons and property.
  • Develops and follows leads, takes statements, and gathers information and facts.
  • Performs surveillance of suspects, crime scenes, and suspected or potential criminal activities.
  • Serves as Point of Contact (POC) for civil law enforcement agencies required to serve due process to military and civilian personnel on the installation.
  • Ensures that the audit trail is complete from initial receipt to final disposition of the case.
  • Accompanies significant evidence or exhibits to court and testifies concerning the chain of custody and assurance of non-compromise.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Successfully graduated from the USACPA or complete within one year of hire date, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver from the Office of the Provost Marshal General (OPMG).
  • Successfully graduated from the United States Army Military Police School (USAMPS) Military Police Investigator Course or complete within one year of hire date.
  • Designated Mission Essential Position: Incumbent in this position is designated as mission essential .
  • Official Temporary Duty (TDY) may be required occasionally.
  • Incumbent is subject to possible civil and criminal action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
  • Incumbent must able to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other associated equipment.
  • This position is designated Tier 3, Non-Critical Sensitive, Moderate Risk and requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance Level as a condition of employment.
  • This is a drug testing designated position (TDP) under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program in accordance with AR 600-85.
  • This position may require irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
  • The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 covers this position.
  • Incumbent must Successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical evaluation.
  • Incumbent must Pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire date and annually thereafter.
  • Incumbent must Comply with requirements and maintain certification under the Individual Reliability Program (IRP)
  • Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related LE work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes.
  • Incumbent must possess a valid state driver’s license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator’s license.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized experience: One year of specialized defined as: Assisting in performing investigative and law enforcement duties in support of criminal and administrative investigations; gathering and analyzing information from multiple sources to assist in case development; identifying and collecting evidence to support investigative leads; participating in interviewing witnesses and/or suspects to obtain detailed facts and collaborating with partner agencies to coordinate and share relevant information to solve criminal and administrative cases for and organization. This specialized experience is equivalent to work performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service (GS-07).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
