As Survey Support Section Chief, responsible for the independent accomplishment of hydrographic and terrestrial survey-related work and the final mapping products.
Provides updated surveying drawings and navigation charts to Pilots Associations, Masters of Commercial Vessels, and other Government Agencies as navigation aids and public safety advisories.
Uses CAD/GIS skills to review and upload completed maps to the District's website and the national e-Hydro database, ensuring all tasks operate within budget constraints.
Performs quality assurance checks and ensures current CAD standards are met for all deliverables.
Maintains a well-equipped, highly trained hydrographic surveying unit and coordinates with maritime agencies (Pilots Associations, Coast Guard, etc.) to provide technical data and ensure navigational safety.
Coordinates field parties and contractors, manages the use of survey vessels, and oversees A/E contract deliverables.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.
The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
This position is supervisory as defined by the OPM General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time; overnight business travel may be required.
Incumbent must be able to walk for prolonged periods of time over uneven terrain and aboard sea going vessels.
