Duties

Help
  • Review physician sterile product orders, patient medication profiles, and records to prevent or counteract effectiveness of the drug regimen.
  • Verify prescribed medications are within safe dosage ranges.
  • Ensure correct labeling, handling, and storage of all pharmaceutical products.
  • Participate in operation of a drug information center or drug information retrieval system.
  • Report medication errors or unusual occurrences.
  • Perform outpatient pharmacy functions for the full range of pharmaceuticals provided in the medical treatment facility (MTF).

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing.
  • Must possess and maintain a current, active, valid and unrestricted Pharmacist license from a U.S. State, District of Columbia, or Commonwealth territory.
  • Must successfully complete pre-placement and annual medical examination to determine if applicant can distinguish basic colors.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 45 pounds is required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Pharmacist:

Education: A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

Qualification: 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree, Ph.D., Pharm.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

Exemption: You are exempt from the requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0660 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017, or before. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.

Licensure: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, a territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia.

Medical Requirement: Must be able to distinguish basic colors.

Education
