Duties

Help

  1. Implements and administers the Information Security Program for the organization. Implements DoD, HQ USAF, and MAJCOM/FOA policies and develops local procedures for the classification and protection of classified national defense and other sensitive information originated or controlled by the organization's activities.
  2. Administers the Industrial Security Program for the organization. Reviews solicitation and contract documents to ensure they include the appropriate security clauses and language.
  3. Administers the Personnel Security Program for the organization. Establishes local procedures for processing requests for security clearances for military and civilian personnel.
  4. Implements and administers the Physical Security Program. Provides program management for the Physical Security Program.
  5. Assists managers in implementing security education and motivation programs. Advises managers of security training requirements, changes in security procedures, publication of security directives, and enhancements designed to increase security awareness.

Qualifications

This position is a developmental position and will be filled at the GG-07 level with promotion potential to the GG-11. The individual selected for this position may be promoted to the target level without further competition upon meeting any legal and regulatory requirements.

This is a GG-7t11 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-7t11 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Entry/Development" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-7t11 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions for series 0080.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include: Knowledge of the principles, policy, procedures and methodology of security administration and skill in applying practical knowledge of applied security principles, concepts, and methodologies. Skills have been gained through experience or education to carry out difficult assignments independently. NOTE: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency.

AND

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

  1. Knowledge of information, industrial, personnel, and physical security concepts, principles, and practices to plan and implement security programs in these areas.
  2. Knowledge of required security training concepts, programs, procedures, and practices to assist managers in establishing and operating internal security programs.
  3. Skill in developing, analyzing, and evaluating security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security program for the installation.
  4. Ability to communicate orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and accurately.
  5. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS:
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.
  • Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft/vehicle to conferences, meetings, or functions away from the duty office/location. Travel may include overnight stays.
  • Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) conferral is required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position in accordance with DoD 3305.13- M, DoD Security Accreditation and Certification. The listed certification requirements may not be deleted or modified without the written approval of the AF Security Functional Authority (SAF/AA) or their delegated security career field representative.
  • This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions.
  • The duties of this position meets all requirements as a category 4 designation, and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the parent Federal Agency or office to function effectively. This position must be removed from the Ready Reserve and CAN NOT become a member of the Ready Reserve. (IAW: DoDD 1200.7, "Screening the Ready Reserve
  • Employee may be required to undergo CI polygraph examinations in accordance with security regulations involving material handled.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
