  • Required to fly in military and commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty (TOY) assignments.
  • Required to work at various locations within the group and base.
  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance to perform work in sensitive areas.
  • Safeguards classified or sensitive materials, information, sensitive aircraft systems, and/or files.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain civilian and military driver's license.
  • May be required to be certified on operation of powered aerospace ground equipment
  • Required to be certified for working with and/or removing hazardous materials.
  • Required to maintain professional working relationships with customers, supervisors and co-workers.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-5300 Industrial Equipment Maintenance Group. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The screen out element for this position is the ability to supervise.

JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Knowledge of principles of electricity (AC/DC), solid state circuitry, and safety rules and regulations pertaining to powered support systems.

2. Knowledge of the theory and operation of internal combustion diesel and gasoline engines. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

3. Knowledge of the operation of emergency generator power systems. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications. Ability to plan and organize work assignments, to include determining resources required to accomplish mission.

4. Knowledge of regulations, procedures, and policies related to records maintenance and documentation. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of the use and maintenance of hand and power tools, equipment, and precision measuring and or test equipment common to trades supervised.

5. Skill in reading, interpreting, and using wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, technical orders, technical publications, and similar guides. Knowledge of Government Purchase Card Program along with safety, environmental, prevention hazardous waste, and confined space programs along with aircraft foreign object debris prevention in accordance with applicable standards, regulations, laws, and requirements.

6. Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques or trade(s) and/or craft(s) supervised and personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal Opportunity/Equal Employment Treatment. Ability to utilize GO81 data collection system to schedule, clear, update, provide status, and forecast equipment requirements

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
