This National Guard position is for a MILITARY AND FAMILY READINESS SPECIALIST-TITLE 5, Position Description Number PDT57014P1 and is part of the KY J1, National Guard.

** NOTE: Indefinite employment is temporary and is expected to last more than one year but no more than five consecutive years. This appointment will not exceed 01 JUN 2031 and will not be extended without further competition.

Duties

Help

As a MILITARY AND FAMILY READINESS SPECIALIST-TITLE 5, GS-0301-9, you will serve as an independent advisor in accomplishing all objectives of the Soldier & Family Readiness Program (SFRP) for the Army National Guard. Provide input to develop, articulate, and implement the Family Readiness Program at the State level, inclusive of family readiness, family assistance, employment outreach, volunteer training and management and improvement of quality of life and well-being of Service members and families. Ensure accurate and timely input into the NGB-approved system of record for all applicable Service Members and Family case information, unit support, community outreach, training provision, volunteer management and other Family Program data. Conduct briefings at the local, unit and state levels to provide necessary information to leadership, commanders, Soldiers, Families, Soldier and Family Readiness Groups (SFRGs) and community partners. Provide support during 24/7 EFAC operations, Yellow Ribbon Reintegration activities, Recruit Sustainment Program activities, drill and annual training periods. Provide training and technical support to Commanders and Family Readiness Liaisons to support their Unit Family Readiness program, Soldier/Family Readiness Groups (SFRGs), and volunteers. Assist higher headquarters in planning and coordinating resources for family assistance at deployment cycle support and steady-state readiness activities. Submit information to support development and budget forecasting to support the Soldier and Family Readiness Support Program. Conduct staff assistance visits to units to accomplish the objectives of the program. Perform other duties as assigned.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Acceptance of a Federal position will terminate Tricare Reserve Select (TRS) eligibility.
This position is located on a tobacco free facility.
Must obtain and maintain a favorable adjudication of a T3 or equivalent investigation.
This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

NOTE: A retired member of the Armed Forces may not be appointed to a DOD civilian position within 180 days after retirement, without a TAG approved waiver, in accordance with DoDi 1402.01, Employment of Retired Members of the Armed Forces, dated 09 Sep 2007 and National Guard Appointment for Retired Members of the Armed Forces Memo, dated 18 Jan 2019.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Must have at least one (1) year experience at the next lower level in the normal line of progression through federal service (GS-07) or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that demonstrates the experience and knowledge of managing, coordinating and planning family, quality-of-life or human services programs. Experience providing advice and assistance on community resources and social service agencies/programs. Experience analyzing, evaluating and making recommendations for improvement of family, quality-of-life or human services programs. Experience developing newsletters, literature and training materials to support a program.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Resume must have complete dates, work schedule, and/or hours worked per week for both civilian and military employment. (Example: 2 JAN 1980 to 3 MAR 1981; 0800-1630 M-F or JAN 1980 to MAR 1981; 40 hrs/wk) Use of year only and unspecified work schedule will result in disqualification. Education

Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience: To qualify for GS-0301 Title 5 Excepted Service positions, on the basis of completed graduate education listed below:

Master's or equivalent graduate degree

-OR-

2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

To receive credit for education substitution listed above, you must provide OFFICIAL transcripts for validation.
