Duties

Help
  • Sets up and operates engraving machines to engrave a variety of items. Makes changes in machine setup, such as readjusting for different sizes of work piece or changes in shape.
  • Uses specialized, computer based equipment for engraving and framing to create custom projects for patrons with a variety of materials to include paper mats, metal , glass, wood, etc.
  • Uses other specialized equipment such as beveling machine, laser engraver, and COREL DRAW software, heat presses, copy machines and plastic/metal shears.
  • Provides information and general instruction on the use of equipment, facilities and machinery. Provides one on one customer consultations. Provides safety instruction and demonstrates safe use of equipment.
  • Participates in special events to market the engraving/framing services. Assists with placing orders with vendors for materials and supplies. Assists in the collection of fees, bank deposits, and daily activity report submissions.

  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a certificate of medical examination.
  • Incumbent also be required to complete a Tier 1 CNACI background investigation for regular and recurring contact with children and a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
  • Must be available to work a varying/rotating schedule to include mornings, afternoons, early evening, weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
  • This position is dual compensation exempt; All GS and NAF employees holding regular full or part time positions are eligible to apply for this position.
  • Medical Examination is required.

Must have comparable work experience that provided the applicant with the knowledge, skills and ability to carry out the above duties. Knowledge and skill using tools of the trade.

Skill and Knowledge:

  • Skill in using and adjusting hand tools and machinery common to picture framing and engraving.
  • Skill in the application of measuring, fastening, and cutting techniques.
  • Ability to interpret work orders, written instructions, and diagrams.
  • Ability to use measuring instruments.
  • Ability to perform minor maintenance on equipment.
  • Ability to correct flaws or defects in materials and end product.
  • Knowledge of properties the materials being utilized.
  • Ability to instruct others in techniques of custom framing.

PCS Costs
  • Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
Allowances and Differentials
  • This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week -- whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
