Duties

Help

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate efficient usage of resources and equipment.
  • Operate and maintain emergency electrical generation equipment, auxiliaries & fire alarm systems.
  • Supervise the technicians work in diverse dissimilar occupations and tasks to maintain and repair equipment and systems.
  • Demonstrate knowledge on the requirements of the Electrical areas of the facility recommending solutions to technical engineering questions.
  • Exercise authority to adjust staff and resources to correct items out of compliance with code requirements.
  • Coordinates with other FMS supervisor's resources, staff and assignments to provide an efficient effective work environment.
  • Provide technical assistance to the Project Engineering staff.
  • Works as a Contracting Officer Representative (COR) authority on construction projects up to $10,000,000.
  • Supervise the technicians' function to operate and maintain the facility electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Conduct design reviews for construction projects, including layout, feasibility and specifications.
  • Complete the project in compliance with current National Electrical Code (NEC) and other electrical codes and standards.
  • Provide technical assistance to the technicians on the various problems and solutions regarding the design, construction and operation of the utility systems.
  • Operate electric and pneumatic tools.
  • Set up and operate hoists, pulleys and other items to accomplish the work.
  • Use of hand tools (such as: power tools, such as cable pullers, hydraulic benders, and pipe threading machines; and a wide variety of test equipment, meggers, multimeters, frequency meters, watt meters, power factor meters, vibro-grounds, phase rotation meters, audio tone location equipment, high potential testers, ground fault interrupter testing equipment, recording amp meters, circuit analyzers, circuit breaker testers, resistance bridges, and cathodic protection test sets).
  • Perform quality assurance and technical inspections of the electrical system installation for compliance with construction documents, specifications and applicable codes.
  • Supervise the maintenance of High Voltage Electrical switchgear, emergency electrical distribution switch gears, automatic transfer switches
  • Develop action plans from the instructions and initiate action to fulfill the requirements.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am- 4:30pm

Physical Requirements: He/she must occasionally lift and carry items up to 50 pounds in weight and operate electric and pneumatic tools, set up and operate hoists, pulleys and other items to accomplish the work. He/she will climb, crawl, stoop, bend, and stretch, while performing tasks associated with this position. The incumbent must be able to be respirator qualified.

Working Conditions: The incumbent is required to work inside and outside in adverse conditions if necessary. He/she is subject to falls, bruises, burns, cuts, broken bones, working in damp, drafty places or hot and dusty places, stooping, bending, stretching, working on ladders, scaffolds, on roofs and in cramped and confining spaces. Uncomfortable protective clothing may occasionally be worn and he/she is occasionally subject to large amounts of escaping gases when making emergency repairs

EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.
