Help

The purpose of this position is to perform managerial duties at Grassy Pont, the off-base recreation facility located approximately 25 miles south of Moody Air Force Base. Plans, develops, and directs the operation of Grassy Pond subject to installation policies, agency regulations, and applicable federal and state laws. Manages a 500+ acre recreation complex which includes a 275-acre pond, 39 recreational vehicle (RV) sites, 5 overflow sites, 9 tent sites, 19 cabin/cottages, 16 pavilions, 2 playgrounds, 2 nature trails (1mile and 3.1 mile), 5 latrine facilities, laundry facility, recreational sites (volleyball, basketball, swimming instruments), fishing docks and office support. Ensures facility is used only by authorized patrons and the Grassy Pond Rules, regulations and established procedures are followed and adhered to. Plans and coordinates special interest activities such as fishing tournaments, family outings, catered meals for FamCamp patrons, weddings, family reunions, and any other scheduled special function. Responsible for all supplies and equipment. Accounts for all funds and resale merchandise and prepares daily reports. Develops and submits annual budget requirements with monthly revisions to meet operating needs. Determines the types and quantities of resale items: prices items so that an appropriate profit is realized and run-over is controlled. Establishes inventory stock level; directs taking of inventory and is accountable for. Ensures activity meets squadron financial goals. Directs the maintenance and control of rental equipment units and use of all watercraft including outboard motos. Provides technical advice and training instructions; enforces rules and regulations to promote safety, protect equipment and assets, and maintains orderly conduct. Coordinates with count and state game wardens, base security forces, sheriff's department and state patrol for safety of patrons and security available. Manges real property resources and provides expert advice on renovations, improvements and minor and major construction. Works with ground safety officials; inspects facility and grounds to ensure safety hazards are removed and corrected. Responsible for workforce management. Supervises 7 employees and 10+ volunteers/community service workers. Supervises assigned personnel, prepares work schedules, approves/disapproves employee leave, prepares performance appraisials/awards, maintaines discipline and prepares diciplinary actions when necessary, maintains employee training recors and schedules eomployees for annual and upgrade training. Determines staffing needs and adjusts as necessary. performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have progressively responsible experience working with the routines and procedures followed in group activities or programs. Must have general management experience of principles and practices of basic maintenance and upkeep of recreational vehicles (RV) campsites to include hookup, laundry/bathroom/shower facilities. Must have specialized experience which may have been gained in the operation or management of a civilian or military recreation program at a recreation area. the experience must have included responsibility or supervision over various phases or operation such as inventory, budget, safety, maintenance, and staffing. experience planning and programming of outdoor recreation activities is also required. Must possess a valid driver's license Must have the ability to drive over paved and unpaved roads. Must possess (or be able to obtain within a reasonable amount of time) current and valid national recognized certifications for boaters safety, basic first aid and CPR which includes adult, child, and infant procedures, food handlers certification and dram shop training. Must be able to work an irregular tour of duty to include nights, weekends, and holidays. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical and National Agency Check with Inquires (NACI). THIS IS A DRUG TESTING POSITION. THE INCUMBANT IS SUBJECT TO RANDOM TESTING FOR DRUG USE.

  • Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation or a signed memorandum indicating the installation's decision on the 3-year residency requirement..
