Duties

Help
  • Serve as the Director, Comptroller, and principle civilian advisor to the Director/Commander, JIATFS South.
  • Serve as the principle financial management consultant subject matter expert to the Director concerning all major aspects of financial resources management, controls, and financial systems.
  • Direct and coordinate the budget, financial reporting, economic and cost analysis, review and analysis, management analysis, and value engineering
  • Provide overall staff direction and guidance in the development and submission of the Command's Operating Budgets to HQ USSOUTHCOM
  • Serve as an authority and as the principle staff advisor to the Commander on all policy matters concerning effective and economical distribution and utilization of resources.
  • Directly supervise a staff of military and civilian multifunctional resource management specialists through subordinate team leaders.
  • Conduct direct and daily senior level interface to facilitate a constant dialogue and coordination of planned actions and required resources.
  • Represent the command at meetings of the interagency/international community

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a Tier 5 investigation/Single Scope Background Information (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • Requires temporary duty travel (TDY) to national and international conferences, meetings, and forums up to 25% of the work schedule.
  • Must complete a nondisclosure agreement.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • May require overtime as determined by Management.

Army DCIPS positions apply Veteran's Preference to preference eligible candidates as defined by Section 2108 of Title 5 U.S.C., in accordance with the procedures provided in DoD Instruction 1400.25, Volume 2005, DCIPS Employment and Placement.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes includes directing or assisting with directing resource management operations such as budget coordination, financial reporting, cost analysis, management analysis and/or value engineering; coordinating with interagency and higher-level partners; planning, establishing and/or coordinating financial support policies; and providing direction, advisement, or leadership on financial management matters. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS/GG-14).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
