Duties

Help
  • Responsible for the strategic direction and leadership of all financial management functions supporting critical IBP and DoW initiatives.
  • Coordinates and maintains strategic relationships with senior leaders across DoW and other government agencies to resolve complex financial challenges.
  • Participates in formal and informal management planning, policy and decision-making sessions regarding legislative changes, technological improvements, and changes in governmental policies and procedures.
  • Implements and modernizes financial systems and procedures, ensuring delivery of financial management services to assigned DoW components.
  • Participates with the Director in planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and reviewing the work of subordinate organizational directorates involved in carrying out the mission and functions of the organization.

Qualifications

One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-14) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

Specialized experience is defined as: serves as a senior expert and consultant to top agency management officials to advise on integrating
financial management programs, providing advice and consultation on the full range of financial management activities; and making recommendations that impact the development of agency-level financial management policies and procedures.


You may qualify for consideration if meeting specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.

GS 12 and above: Education is not substitutable for specialized experience at this grade level.

If you are selected, you will have to obtain this certification within two (2) years of your entry on duty in the position unless you are already in a position that requires a Level 3 Certification in which case you must complete the certification within the original 2-year period. Failure to become certified within the required time-frame may be grounds for removal from the position and/or from Federal service.
