Summary

This position is located in the Railroad Retirement Board's Bureau of Information Services. Duties

Help

As an Enterprise Data Architect, you will:

  • Define, communicate, and maintain the agency's enterprise data strategy and target-state data architecture, ensuring alignment with the RRB's strategic plan, enterprise architecture, and Federal data mandates.
  • Advise the agency's data governance program, ensuring data is treated as a strategic enterprise asset with clear accountability, quality standards, and lifecycle management.
  • Lead the strategic planning and architectural design of data modernization initiatives, directing the migration of disparate legacy data silos into integrated, modern enterprise data platforms.
  • Serve as the agency's foremost authority on data modeling concepts, principles, and methodologies, providing architectural direction and design standards for the evolution of enterprise data structures.
  • Provide strategic thought leadership and expert technical guidance on data management to all levels of the organization, building data literacy and a culture of data-driven decision-making.
  • Establish and maintain enterprise-level change management and configuration control programs governing all data architecture and data structure changes across the agency.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications for GS-14 level:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service.

Specialized experience is (1) Developing enterprise data strategies and target-state architectures. (2) Directing the migration of legacy data silos into modern enterprise platforms. (3) Providing data management and data governance expert technical guidance to senior leadership.

Time-in grade-restrictions: Applicants who are current or former Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements (52 weeks at the next lower grade level).


Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
