Duties

Help
  • Serves as the senior automation specialist with responsibility for managing enterprise services on mission essential Unclassified, Secret, Top Secret, and Coalition networks, operation, maintenance, and configuration .
  • Management of enterprise systems in a Data Center environment, Cyber Security compliance of managed systems, and planning and execution of system upgrades.
  • Responsible for management of all enterprise systems resident on unclassified and classified networks within a Data Center environment.
  • Monitors the availability of required enterprise services and performance of enterprise systems on all mission essential networks.
  • Provides enterprise system modernization recommendations, which includes defining system software and system hardware necessary to maintain appropriate support for intelligence customers.
  • Provides recommendations for procurement and implementation of enterprise storage subsystems and data backup systems to support daily requirements and continuity of operations requirements.
  • Exercises complete administrative and technical supervision over employees assigned to the System Services branch.
  • Responsible for job performance, training, professional development, and formal evaluation of DAC staff members.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based on an SBI with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • All INSCOM employees may be subject to extended TDY or worldwide deployments during crisis situations to perform mission essential functions as determined by management.
  • May be required to work weekends/holidays or on shifts in event of crisis or other operational tasking.
  • TDY may constitute up to 10% of the time.
  • Required to satisfactorily complete the appropriate training and obtain the required certification/recertification for this position as outlined in DoD Publication 8570.01-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program.

Army DCIPS positions apply Veteran's Preference to preference eligible candidates as defined by Section 2108 of Title 5 U.S.C., in accordance with the procedures provided in DoD Instruction 1400.25, Volume 2005, DCIPS Employment and Placement.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as:

1) Experience leading strategic planning, network architecture, and operational management for enterprise systems across Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNET), and Non-classified Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNET). AND
2) Experience utilizing information technology (IT)/ information management (IM) and project-management expertise to plan, coordinate, and execute complex, enterprise-scale IT projects. AND
3) Experience Oversees system administration and Service Desk operations to deliver timely, mission-focused support across multi-network enclaves.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-13)

In addition to the specialized experience listed above, your resume must show you have Information Technology-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies as defined:

Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: using expertise and experience to address complex problems, questions, or complaints; anticipating customer needs and modify the team work activities, processes, and practices to meet these needs; collaborating across team and outside of own team to organize planning sessions that elicit ideas for improving customer service and support;
(3) Oral Communication-Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: clearly explaining and defending complex ideas, appropriately adapting to each audiences level of knowledge; actively listening and clarifying points when presenting highly complex and controversial findings; using well-constructed, fact-based arguments to persuade stakeholders/officials to take action on suggestions for improvement; and
(4) Problem Solving-Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include providing precedent setting solutions to unique problems not previously encountered; helping team make decisions which are complicated by the number and nature of existing policy, guidelines, and organizational goals; identifying the root causes of problems; developing systemic solutions to address them and prevent them from reoccurring.
