Help

  • Provide support in administering employee benefits programs including retirement, insurance, leave, and workers' compensation
  • Research and resolve routine to moderately complex benefits issues and assist in determining applicable policies
  • Track and manage benefits actions such as claims, applications, and enrollments through completion
  • Maintain and update HR systems, records, and case files ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Provide guidance to employees on benefits processes, requirements, and available options
  • Generate reports, update trackers, and support data analysis for HR Specialists
  • Assist with onboarding activities and provide administrative support for HR programs and events

Qualifications

GS-05 Level

Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 level in the Federal service (or equivalent) performing all of the following:

  1. Assisting with processing HR actions or employee benefits transactions using established procedures; AND
  2. Providing basic customer service by responding to routine HR or benefits inquiries; AND
  3. Maintaining records, files, or automated systems to track HR actions or employee information; AND
  4. Collecting and reviewing forms or documents for completeness and accuracy.
OR
Four years of post-high school study obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
I have a combination of the experience described in Response A and college education described in Response B above, which when combined are equivalent to 100% of the qualifications requirement.

GS-06 Level

Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the Federal service (or equivalent) performing all of the following:

  1. Supporting employee benefits programs (e.g., retirement, insurance, leave, or workers' compensation); AND
  2. Researching HR policies and procedures to resolve routine issues or discrepancies; AND
  3. Tracking and following up on HR actions such as claims, enrollments, or personnel transactions; AND
  4. Using automated HR systems to update records, generate reports, and monitor case status.

GS-07 Level

Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 level in the Federal service (or equivalent) performing all of the following:

  1. Providing technical support for employee benefits programs and resolving moderately complex issues; AND
  2. Conducting research and analyzing HR data to determine appropriate actions or recommendations; AND
  3. Independently tracking and managing multiple HR cases (e.g., retirement applications, benefits claims); AND
  4. Advising employees on benefits options, processes, and requirements based on individual situations; AND
  5. Preparing reports, maintaining trackers, and improving administrative processes or workflows.

You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
