Duties

Help

The primary purpose of this position is to operate the installation's central cashier operation (CCO), serving as the central deposit point for all Nonappropriated Fund (NAF) activities, and to perform centralized receiving and disbursing functions in accordance with established procedures.

Collects and consolidates daily deposits from all Force Support Squadron (FSS) activities. Verifies that deposits received are accompanied by a completed AF Form 1876, NAF Consolidated Cost Center Report, and other required supporting documentation. In the presence of a witness, counts and verifies the contents of each deposit bag (including cash, checks, credit card receipts, and other negotiable items) and reconciles amounts against the submitted AF Form 1878, NAF Central Cashier Control Log. Reconciles all commercial charges against the terminal's end-of-day settlement reports. Ensures proper identification is presented before disbursement is made.

Prepares a consolidated bank deposit for all NAFIs, ensuring all currency and coins are properly wrapped. Completes the AF Form 1877, NAF Central Cashier Deposit Receipt, and the bank deposit slips. Ensures the daily deposit is made to the financial institution in a timely manner.
Prepares and issues change funds to authorized activity personnel as required. Safeguards all funds and negotiable instruments by ensuring they are properly secured in the activity's safe before deposit.

Prepares daily cash reports and immediately notifies the supervisor of any irregularities, shortages, or overages. Ensures proper identification is presented before making any authorized disbursements. Maintains accountability for all transactions and ensures they are accurately reflected in the daily cashier's report.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
Experience in responsible clerical or office work which includes demonstrated ability to perform common arithmetic problems, and making change when receiving payments from customers. Experience in the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit or other processing of cash items when this includes (1) direct handling of cash items, and (2) use of cash accountability control methods.
Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. Must possess skills dealing with the public. Possess the ability to use basic Microsoft programs. Incumbent is required to drive a government vehicle in the performance of his/ her duties. Must be able to provide a copy of his/her driving record. This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random drug testing. Knowledge of procedures for safeguarding cash and negotiable instruments as outlined in AFMAN 34-202. This directly links the position to its core compliance requirement.

Condition(s) of Employment: Successful completion and favorable adjudication of applicable background investigation (Tier 1 Level) is required. Individual must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and an exemplary driving record. The record must remain free of major traffic violations, DUIs, or reckless driving convictions that would preclude the operation of Government Motor Vehicles (GMV). Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
