Incumbent is assigned to one or more specialized recreational activities such as the following:  Marina/Fishing Pier, Community Activities, ITT Office, Campsites/Cottages, Arts & Crafts, Fitness/Athletics, Golf Course, Skeet Range, Youth Activities, Bowling Center & Stables.

Incumbent is assigned to the following recreational activity: Del Mar Marina, Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) Camp Pendleton.

Assists Marina management in the daily operation, maintenance, and supervision of the Marina and waterfront activities. Ensures safe, efficient, and customer-focused operation of rentals, slip assignments, dock services, and recreational sailing programs. Provides routine facility and rental vessel maintenance, including mechanical and electrical. Fosters a positive team environment, encouraging collaboration and open communication through appropriate channels, following chain of command.

Performs and/or assists in the operation of the recreation activity.  Based on established policies, incumbent carries out assigned phases of designated activity applying an understanding of the interest and needs of program participants. Typical assignments include but are not limited to: Leads and participates in the work of assigned Marina staff - performing duties such as boat launching, fueling, docking, and equipment checkout. Follows Marina procedures, customer service standards, and safety and/or OSHA requirements. Monitors dock, Marina-owned vessels, and equipment conditions and reports or fulfills maintenance needs. Coordinates Marina operations including slip usage, storage, reservations, and daily inspections. Enforces all MCCS and Marina safety policies, boating regulations, and environmental standards. Provides boating orientation and instruction to customers in safe vessel handling, proper use of personal flotation devices (PFDs), and emergency procedures. Monitors inventory and sales of marine supplies, tools, rental equipment, and fuel. Operates point-of-sale systems and maintains related records and logs. 

Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on professionalism and safety. Assists customers courteously, addresses concerns promptly, and escalates issues to Marina Management, as necessary.  Adheres to safety regulations and standards, and environmental protection policies.  Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.  Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.

EVALUATIONS:

Qualifications

Minimum one year experience in a recreational activity with preferred experience in boating, mechanical or electrical, youth sports, or first-aid and emergency response. Must currently hold or be able to obtain and maintain an active CPR certification within 6 months of hire. Ability to lead and train others in safe boating and Marina operations. Skill to demonstrate activities and use of related facility equipment.  Skill to learn applicable MCCS policies and procedures.  This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance.
