Duties

Help
  • You will be responsible for the management of the PROPS Aircraft Integrated System Examination and Evaluation Branch.
  • You will coordinate the work of several aircraft trades in readying aircraft for flight inspection.
  • You will develop, implement, and coordinate rework requirements while evaluating and controlling the extent of the rework.
  • You will analyze malfunctions and determine if adjustment, repair, or replacement is required.
  • You will prepare required reports, initiate correspondence, and prepare replies regarding assigned program functions.
  • You will monitor and ensure compliance with subordinate staff certification and license requirements.
  • You will perform supervisory and administrative action items in support of agency mission and objectives.

  • This position is both in an office setting, and outdoors in high noise level areas as well as exposed to varying seasonal weather conditions. Areas may be drafty, noisy, and vary in temperature.
  • This position is subject to noise, vibration, eye/foot hazards, dust, dirt, grease, oils, solvents and other aircraft fluids, as well as hazards associated with working around operating/moving aircraft, inlet duct suction, and aircraft exhaust.
  • Must obtain and maintain required certification and/or license as a condition of employment.
  • Must monitor and ensure compliance of subordinate staff certification and license requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • This position is subject to frequent lifting up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting items weighing more with assistance.
  • Work requires standing, setting, kneeling, crouching, stooping, pushing, pulling, and working in strained and awkward positions.
  • This position requires hand and eye coordination to safely climb onto aircraft and high places.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE, and includes the following: 1) Examine, evaluate, and analyze aircraft systems, structures, flight control system, accessories, arresting gear, landing gear, and associated systems during aircraft induction, flight test, and log aircraft system condition, perform testing, and document aircraft system discrepancies; 2) Prepare production examination and evaluation results into written work instructions, and documents detailing tasks to be accomplished by production team/technical personnel, and other entities supporting production flow; 3) Participate in aircraft system/subsystem inspecting, testing, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repair; 4) Demonstrate comprehensive working knowledge and experience in the disassembly, processing, repair, and assembly of aircraft integrated systems/subsystems; 5) Prepare and ensure aircraft meets flight test requirements; 6) Apply journeyman level knowledge and experience from various aircraft platforms and trades sufficient to direct the work of shop artisans in accomplishing trade and labor operations; 7) Manage manpower, equipment, facilities, materials, and other resources to accomplish work operations; 8) Establish priorities, deadlines, and task sequencing to comply with productions plans; and 9) Communicate with management on a variety of issues as well as communicate with shop artisans and other technical employees on compliance issues and work requirements.
