Duties

Help
  • Direct, Supervise and manage emergency services communications operations in the Emergency Communications Center, Fort Sill, OK.
  • Serve as the installation public safety answering point (PSAP) manager.
  • Plan work schedules; revises schedule to meet peak workload periods, and manpower shortages.
  • Write policy/procedure and informs employees of changes in policy and operating procedures.
  • Supervise and direct emergency medical dispatching (EMD) assistance to callers with medical emergencies using the emergency medical dispatch systems of Fort Sill and the municipalities in the local region.
  • Direct and supervise the receipt and effective evaluation of 911 emergency calls by dispatchers, to include installation Fire, Emergency Medical Services, Police, Commercial Intrusion Detection System, and Transmitted Fire alarms

  • Incumbent must obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
  • Must obtain and maintain certification in first-aid and CPR.
  • Must meet established hearing and vision tests. Must be able to distinguish colors.
  • May be required to work emergency overtime.
  • Must successfully complete Emergency Telecommunicator Course (ETC), national crime information center (NCIC) training and Oklahoma Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (OLETS) training and maintain current certifications
  • Position is subject to shift work.
  • The incumbent is required to work an alternate work schedule, which requires an uncommon tour of duty (including nights, weekends and holidays).
  • Incumbent is required to work (mission essential) regardless of weather conditions, Terrorist Force Protection Condition (TFPCON) or installation closure and to report to the duty station at the regularly scheduled time.
  • The incumbent is required to possess and maintain certification in Emergency Medical Dispatch System and Emergency Fire Dispatch system through an accredited source.
  • The incumbent is required to attend National Accredited Public Safety Dispatcher Training. Continuous current certification is a condition of employment.
  • The incumbent is responsible for attaining continuing dispatch and Intrusion Detection education requirements through in-service training that is offered locally.
  • Individuals must possess and maintain a valid State driver's license.
  • The incumbent must successfully pass a national Criminal Information Center (NCIC) Interstate Identification Index (III) background check.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • The incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R (Condition of Employment for Certain Positions Identified as Critical Under the Drug Abuse Testing Program) must pass urinalysis testing as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience:

Current Federal Employee: One year of specialized experience which includes maintaining an accurate status of all emergency response equipment and personnel to assure prompt and accurate response; assuring personnel assigned to the shift carry out work assignments in accordance with instructions; and providing emergency police, fire and medical services to the public by answering emergency 911 calls ensuring emergency service personnel respond with appropriate personnel and equipment and give pre-arrival instructions to callers. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-9).
