Duties

Help
  • You will work regularly with a widely disbursed workforce, making coordination, organization and planning efforts more difficult.
  • You will plan, assign and explain work requirements to subordinates and other employees relating to new procedures and changing technology.
  • You will provide technical guidance for subordinates in unusual or unique situations.
  • You will prepare, evaluate and implement performance appraisals and recommend subordinates for monetary awards and Sustained Superior Performance awards.
  • You will ensure that all administrative and operational records, reports and statistical information are maintained as required and that reports and statistical data are forwarded as required.
  • You will develop long range plans for facilities, manpower and material resources, training programs, and prevention and suppression techniques.
  • You will control expenditures of allotted funds for assigned programs through formal requisition processes.
  • You will promote fire protection, prevention and public education to the active duty military, dependents, civilians, and host nation employees of the community.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Required to work a 72 hour work week with eating and sleeping facilities provided in accordance with general firefighting practices.
  • Work schedule will consist of 24 hour shifts on a rotating basis every other day with a Regular clay off scheduled accordingly or commonly known as a Kelly Day.
  • Must be able to wear protective clothing and equipment, weighing up to 100 pounds, while working in extreme heat and cold under adverse conditions, such as fire and smoke.
  • Ability to maintain alertness, self-control, and emotional stability to direct training operations. Climbs ladders and works at various heights.
  • EMERGENCY-ESSENTIAL (E-E) position. E-E employees must sign an agreement stating that you will continue to perform assigned duties to support mission requirements in the event of a crisis situation of war, until relieved by proper authority.
  • E-E employees with military recall status proper will be removed from their military recall status. This position is required to have an annual health assessment
  • A valid state driver’s license and Government License with successful completion of an Emergency Vehicle Operators course is required.
  • Work requires participation in a physical fitness program. Position requires secret security clearance.
  • Position requires National Incident Management System (NIMS). ICS-100, ICS-200. ICS-300, ICS-400. lCS-700 and ICS-800 certifications.
  • Work requires participation in the DoD firefighter certification program.
  • This position is a Tes1ing Designated Position (TOP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing.
  • Those hired are limited to a maximum entry age of 37.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: implementing a fire prevention program through inspections, training, and enforcement of fire regulations to installation, tenant commands, and surrounding communities, and overseeing inspectors in work assignments, performance evaluation and recommending for awards & training development.

A service agreement may be negotiated in accordance with the Joint Travel Regulation (JTR), applicable Department of Navy (DON) policies, and local Marine Crops Bases Japan policies.
