About the Position: Sierra Army Depot is located in Herlong CA, a rural town in Northern California. Herlong is approximately 60 miles north of Reno, NV, and 35 miles south of Susanville, CA. The depot serves as an Army Expeditionary Logistical Support Center. Employees work Mon-Thurs, 0630-1700 hrs. Youth Facilities and child care available. Mass transportation is available at minimal cost. Surrounding area boasts a full range of outdoor sports/recreation activities.

Duties

Help
  • Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates.
  • Takes minor disciplinary measures such as warnings and reprimands.
  • Ensures subordinate job descriptions are current and accurate, and positions are designed and structured in accordance with the Position Management Program.
  • Recommends feasible solutions or courses of action regarding Depot operational problems in all major functional areas which may have significant impact and cross organizational lines.
  • Provides oversight of Depot’s International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) program.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Temporary Duty Travel, TDY may be required up to 5% of the time.
  • This position is supervisory and a one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
  • Position may be converted to permanent without further competition.
  • Temporary promotion may be made permanent or extended up to a maximum of five years.
  • Time Limited Detail NTE may be made permanent or extended at management discretion.
  • Temporary appointments may be extended in one year increments up to a maximum of three years.
  • This position has a DA requirement. The incumbent must meet all requirements for DA level two (2) certification within 24 months of being placed on the position.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license.
  • The incumbent must meet all requirements for Data Analytics (DA) level two certification within 24 months of being placed in the position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Analyzes program management data to support recommendations that improve organizational operations. 2) Develops study findings that inform solutions for issues affecting multiple functional areas. 3) Coordinate Human resource management personnel actions to maintain accurate role assignments. 4) Analyze manpower documents to resolve complex staffing issues. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11)

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
