Duties

Help
  • You will evaluate the performance of all assigned electronic and ATC systems.
  • You will perform preventative and corrective maintenance on assigned systems IAW Planned Maintenance System (PMS), Naval Air Training and Operating Procedures Standardization (NATOPS) Manual, Technical Manuals, Orders and Instructions.
  • You will analyze, evaluate, and document maintenance actions.
  • You will provide formal on the job training.
  • You will perform and certify equipment modifications, field changes and/or the installation of new electronic systems.
  • You will ensure that all meteorological, NAALS systems, and associated equipment are properly maintained within the mandated Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Inter-Service Engineering Agency (ISEA) guidelines.
  • You will perform as a certifying authority for Air Traffic Control and Weather Systems; must obtain and maintain certification on at least three Air Traffic Control and/or Weather Systems.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States drivers license.
  • Maybe required to attend formal on or off-site training.
  • Prevention and treatment of electric shock and annual CPR training/re-certification are required.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be willing and able to lift and/or carry loads/items up to 50 pounds in weight.
  • incumbent will be exposed to potentially dangerous high voltages, RF radiation and occasionally higher than normal noise levels in the performance of required maintenance actions.
  • You will be bending, crouching, reaching, climbing, working aloft on antenna masts and in restricted areas are required in the performance of assigned work.
  • The incumbent must be able to distinguish colors (for resistor and wire coding, etc.).
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and repair of air traffic control systems to include Radar, Navigational Aids, Meteorological, or communications systems AND conducting training for junior technicians.

GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and repair of air traffic control systems to include Radar, Navigational Aids, Meteorological, or communications systems.
