Duties

Help
  • You will plan work to be accomplished, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare work completion schedules.
  • You will be responsible for developing, implementing branch long term strategic objectives, and goals for the purpose of sustainment, stability, quality, capability, and capacity to meet mission demands.
  • You will provide guidance and technical oversight for troubleshooting and repair of Vertical Launching Systems (VLS) and associated sub-systems, and Combat Systems Alignment (CSA), on board U.S. naval surface ships.
  • You will establish and maintain metrics and measures that are aligned in support of command, department, division and branch initiatives and goals.
  • You will forecast branch workload and resource requirements and manage available resources to provide engineering, technical, and logistics support to accomplish assigned Fleet maintenance and modernization tasks.
  • You will serve as an authoritative VLS and CSA expert and consultant as it relates to the execution of ship readiness.
  • You will collect, track, and monitor system performance outcomes associated with system assessments and inspections for the purpose of gathering system performance data and identifying chronic system issues.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Experience applying engineering principles, practices and methods.
  • Experience applying theories, concepts and management practices of fleet support, fleet technical assistance, assessments, inspections, functional checks, troubleshooting, and onboard investigations of system/equipment casualties.
  • Experience managing and coordinating programs and projects involving Vertical Launching Systems (VLS) and Combat Systems Alignment (CSA).
  • Experience analyzing findings and developing recommendations in the adjustment of program plans, objectives, and resourcing.
  • Experience organizing, directing, and supervising a varied workforce composed of engineers, technicians, and contractors.
  • Experience applying military/civilian regulations, polices, federal regulations governing personnel practices, travel, security, funds administration, federal acquisition regulations, modernization and procurement policies.
  • Experience applying audit methodology to support internal review of processes, procedures, instructions, and directives.
  • Experience identifying funding requirements when additional or new work is required, applying budget process and mission financial controls.
