Duties

Help

This position serves as the Director of Strategic Communications and, as such, will:

  • Lead and supervise staff supporting OIG legislative, external affairs and communications; develop staff, manage performance, and foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Serve as a senior advisor on congressional and external relations; direct legislative strategy, testimony, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Direct development and oversight of OIG policies, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives, resolve highly complex and sensitive issues, and drive execution of OIG priorities to ensure organizational effectiveness.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE STATEMENT:

GS-15: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level that demonstrates experience leading and coordinating cross-functional initiatives; developing and implementing organizational polices; advising senior leadership on legislative, communications, media relations, and external affairs matters; managing congressional engagement and stakeholder outreach activities; overseeing internal and external communications programs, including media relations and public messaging; and leading staff, including managing performance and developing employees to support mission priorities.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

TIME-IN-GRADE: If you are a current career or career-conditional federal employee applying for promotion under Merit Promotion you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks in positions at the next level lower than the position being filled
