Program Planning & Execution
Develops, organizes, implements, and leads a diverse, comprehensive four-season schedule of outdoor recreation activities, trips, and special events. Responsible for the comprehensive planning, scheduling, and logistical coordination of all outdoor adventures, ensuring offerings align with the needs and interests of the base community. Operates motor vehicles (MVO) to transport patrons, staff, and equipment to and from recreational sites safely and in accordance with established regulations.
Leadership & Supervision
Serves as the lead guide and primary point of contact for assigned outdoor activities and trips. Leads and trains subordinate staff and volunteers, providing daily guidance, establishing performance expectations, and monitoring work execution. Develops and conducts on-the-job training for staff and volunteers to ensure proficiency in outdoor skills, customer service, and safety protocols.
Financial Management & Administration
Assists in the development and management of the program budget, tracking daily revenues and expenditures to ensure fiscal accountability. Supports Nonappropriated Fund (NAF) financial objectives by actively managing revenue-generating operations and identifying areas for cost-efficiency. Performs regular administrative and cashier duties, including processing payments, managing point-of-sale transactions, and generating financial reports.
Safety & Risk Management
Creates detailed program plans and conducts thorough risk assessments prior to all trips and events to mitigate potential hazards. Ensures all operations comply with Air Force, DoD, and local safety and environmental guidelines. Responds to emergencies during outdoor activities, administering first aid/CPR when necessary, and coordinates with emergency services as required.
Program Evaluation & Quality Assurance
Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of program activities through patron surveys, participation metrics, and detailed after-action reviews. Utilizes data-driven insights to drive continuous improvement, adapting future programs and schedules to better align with customer feedback and emerging recreational trends.
Equipment & Facility Logistics
Manages the lifecycle of outdoor recreation equipment, performing regular inventory audits, maintenance, and repairs. Determines equipment needs, researches products, and submits procurement recommendations to ensure gear remains safe, up-to-date, and sufficient for program demands.
Marketing & Customer Service
Assists in creating marketing materials and coordinating publicity for upcoming programs, classes, and trips. Provides exceptional customer service, answers patron inquiries regarding equipment and outdoor locales, and professionally resolves patron complaints or issues.

Qualifying Experience: Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have trip-leading experience in adventure-based recreation
programming; successfully planning, organizing, and leading outdoor recreation programs for groups; guiding and teaching participants specialized skills and techniques across various sports; and practically applying risk management procedures to assess and mitigate environmental and operational hazards in remote outdoor settings. Experience in accomplishment of clerical/administrative work; utilizing office automation software (MS Windows, MS Office, including PowerPoint, Word, Access, and Excel).
