Under the guidance of the Safety Program Administrator, inspects and evaluates operations to detect unsafe/unhealthy conditions and ensures compliance with applicable safety and health laws, regulations, and standards.
Schedules, conducts and documents required quarterly facility safety inspections on assigned facilities and takes appropriate action to promptly correct safety related hazards and/or violations in accordance with established policies and procedures. Records and reports all findings to the Safety Program Administrator and conducts follow-up inspections to ensure all negative findings have been addressed as required. During this process, ensures facility managers are inspecting and reporting maintenance problems in a timely manner throughout the year. Provides documentation of unreported problems to the supervisor and ensures appropriate actions are taken to correct problems and deficiencies.
Assists with investigating on-the-job accidents involving all 18 FSS personnel and reports findings to the Safety Program Administrator. Assures that all on-base accidents/incidents in the unit reported promptly to the base ground safety office, and the civilian personnel office (CPO). Under the guidance of the Safety Program Administrator, engages in preventative safety measures such as safety training and/or remedial training of on-site personnel, as appropriate, conducts accident investigations and performs root cause analysis of workplace injuries in order to prevent repeat accidents. Tracks near misses of incidents that can lead to recordable. Works closely with program and facility managers to correct issues and potential incidents associated with maintenance of equipment, facilities and/or unsafe behaviors of staff.
Conducts spot inspections of high interest areas including Kadena Marina, Kadena Auto Skills, Banyan Tree Club Complex, Club & Restaurant complexes, and Services Maintenance and Construction Operation. Assists supervisors in the administration of shop safety program. Conducts annual ground safety inspections with Safety Program Administrator and staff of the 18th Wing Safety Office. May assist in conducting 18 FSS monthly safety meeting. Maintains records and work requests on the maintenance and safety of each FSS facility. Opens, closes, reassigns, and issues work requests. Maintains effective liaison with all work center and facility managers. Communicates the status of the pending requests to the appropriate parties.
