The United States Space Force (USSF) at Vandenberg Space Force Base, CA is searching for a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, CDG (NH-0101-03, GS-12/13 equivalent).

Description:
- Assesses worksites and unit policies and practices for barriers to optimal physical health and performance of individuals and groups.
- Conduct comprehensive needs and risk analyses using onsite assessments and health data to inform training needs and mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to execute risk-mitigation strategies that increase physical capacity and reduce injury rates in accordance with DoD regulations.
- Deliver educational briefings and technical guidance to manage unit-level strength and conditioning programs while maintaining expertise in cutting-edge performance modalities.
- Develop and implement performance-optimization initiatives based on Lifestyle Medicine principles to mitigate physical training risks and enhance Guardian Readiness.


Ideal Candidate:
- Forward-thinking, solution oriented, agile, team player, proactive, analytical skills, and great interpersonal skills
- Ability to think creatively and develop tailored approaches that meet the needs of individual Guardians or units
- Currently have or able to obtain Secret clearance
- Experience as a CSCS with sports and/or military teams
- Experience with integrated or embedded care teams

Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of planning, implementation, and assessment techniques and principles as they apply to the strength and conditioning/human performance programming and education sufficient to serve as training resource advisor/consultant.
2. Knowledge of operational concepts and missions sufficient to understand, plan, deliver and evaluate/analyze physical requirements and how strength and conditioning impact mission accomplishment.
3. Knowledge and experience in the specialty of Lifestyle Medicine, its foundations, and application as a primary modality to prevent, treat and often reverse chronic disease.
4. Knowledge and skill in using of state-of-the-art computer-based software and other instructional/evaluative material, wearable technology, current and highly specialized strength and conditioning equipment, facility recommendations and practices, training aids and devices applicable to program objectives, training effectiveness, and efficiency.
5. Knowledge of medical conditions and terminology as well as of human behavior change theories, motivational strategies, and counseling techniques to resolve the most difficult problems associated with uncooperative or unmotivated Guardians necessary for rehabilitation.
6. Skill in data analysis, fact finding, problem analysis, problem resolutions, and development of concrete action plans to solve problems.
7. Skill in written and oral communication to advise, counsel, influence and make recommendations to management officials concerning medical, health, and administrative aspects of the Human Performance and Holistic Health Assessment.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Safeguards classified or sensitive budget-related information and/or files.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed “Unscheduled Telework”.
  • This position will close after 5 business days or 75 applications, whichever comes first.
  • Employee may be required to perform travel by military or commercial passenger aircraft in the performance of temporary duty assignments.
  • PCS / relocation funding is authorized.
  • Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 15 days per year.
  • This position must have a working knowledge of government policy and regulations associated with safeguarding PII and HIPAA information.
