Duties

Help

Oversees the administration and management of the MCCS Facilities and Maintenance Division, which consists of Facilities & Maintenance Shop (to include trams), Custodial, and Gardening departments. This includes facility and maintenance repair and projects, renovations, minor construction, budgeting, contract and bid proposals, facility planning, project planning, design contracting, project administration and repair and maintenance of equipment in support of activities. Collaborates with Base Facilities and MCCS Project Planning Department to develop and execute local maintenance projects/build outs. Works with the Construction Planner and Operating Directors on interior space planning, work station layout, vehicle access, and space management. Reviews drawings and blue prints with the Construction Planner for final approval by the Operating Directors. Prepares internal office financial plans and related records and reports, and exercises within an approved budget.  

As the Facilities and Maintenance Manager, responsibilities include, establishing work schedules, selects type and amount of materials to be used and ensures proper charging of material against job order.  Determines manpower requirements, materials, labor and costs, estimates of time and methods in successfully completing the job. Duties involve all assigned renovation, tenant improvement, and light construction projects; maintenance and repair of all MCCS activities; coordination of civilian contractors; project estimates and bids; event planning; and customer service. Assure proper janitorial/custodial coverage of MCCS activities. Communicates with daily with department Supervisors. Assisting in the resolution of department issues may arise. Must be constantly alert to prevent pilferage and/or damage while subordinates are working in areas where theft of merchandise could easily occur and cause financial loss. In addition, oversees Gardening throughout MCCS areas and people moving Trams for MCCS events.

Counsels and trains employees, schedules and directs work, appraises work performance.  Approves or disapproves leave, and personnel actions.  Must be alert to substance abuse and take appropriate action.  Effectively supports the Marine Corps Equal Employment Opportunity and Sexual Harassment policies, ensures compliance with fire, safety, and other environmental issues and programs. Complies and operates within OSHA standards.  Maintains and enforces security of funds, merchandise, supplies and equipment to preclude or minimize the potential for fraud, waste and abuse.

Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner.  Takes action to solve problems quickly.  Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise.  Adheres to safety regulations and standards.  Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.  Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.

EVALUATIONS:

Qualifications

¿    A minimum of four years of experience as Supervisor or Manager.  
¿    Must have specialized experience working at journeyman level of the carpentry trade.
¿    Must have the ability to interpret and read blue prints and schematics, scale drawings, and     other diagrams essential to the work.  
¿    Must have knowledge of a variety of trades involving plumbing, painting and masonry work.
¿    Knowledge of pertinent safety, occupational health and environmental regulations.  
¿    Strong Administrative, Managerial and Computer skills required.  
¿    Must have ability to gather and organize varied tasks, distinguish priorities, and plan for future contingencies.  
¿    Must be skilled in written and oral expression and in using communications and counseling techniques to foster team effort. 
¿    Experience as a Licensed Contractor is preferred.  
¿    Knowledge of NAF Policy and Procedures preferred.
