Duties

Help
  • Plan daily, weekly and monthly work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates.
  • Establish deadlines and priorities on the basis of general work schedules and methods and policies established by higher levels of supervision.
  • Develop performance standards, counsel employees on performance and make formal and informal performance appraisals.
  • Determine equipment, supplies, and maintenance required.
  • Explain work requirements, methods, and procedures.

  • This position requires the employee drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required and must be maintained for the position.
  • Applicant must undergo a pre-employment and annual medical exam to meet physical efforts requirements.
  • Heavy lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs and occasional heaving lifting of objects up to 100 lbs with assistance.
  • A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer Supervisor without more than normal supervision. (1) Supervising field level maintenance personnel to establish deadlines, priorities, work sequences and work assignments based on schedules, methods, resources and policies; (2) Performing field level maintenance/repair work on Army Ground Equipment to maintain serviceable conditions; (3) Utilizing automated supply/maintenance management systems to maintain production reports, such as GCSS-A; and (4) Performing proper hand receipt procedures to account for tools and equipment. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Physical Effort: Works in tiring and/or uncomfortable positions for long periods. Work requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, stretching, climbing, and crouching. Works on top and under vehicles in cramped or awkward positions. Frequently lifts and carries up to 40 to 50 pounds and often exerts similar effort in pushing, pulling, and positioning parts, assemblies, and equipment. Frequently lifts and moves heavier items with assistance of other workers and with lifting devices. May be required to work from ladders or work platforms of varying heights.
  • Working Conditions: Work is performed inside maintenance facility, outside at an unannounced field location, and/or in a lighted shop. When inside, frequently exposed to drafts, changing temperatures, and noise which is difficult to talk above. When outside, sometimes works in bad weather, in mud or snow, and in wet or icy areas. Both inside and outside, workers are exposed to irritations and discomfort from dust, dirt, grease, mud, and a noisy atmosphere. Frequent exposure to the possibility of cuts, bruises, shocks, burns, strains and injuries from falls while repairing, positioning, and moving equipment. Work involves constant exposure to exhaust fumes and exposure to weather (hot and cold, rain and snow). Operates vehicles in all types of traffic and weather conditions. Worker is exposed to possible serious accidents.
