The United States Space Force (USSF) at New Boston Space Force Station, NH is searching for a Recreation Specialist for the 22 SOPS (NH-0188-02, GS-05/11 equivalent).

Description:
As the Recreation Specialist for New Boston Space Force Station, you will be the driving force behind the programs that support the well-being and morale of the Guardians, civilian employees, and families who are vital to our nation's space mission. This is not a behind-the-scenes administrative role; you are a community leader, an event planner, and a business manager rolled into one.
You will:
- Be the Architect of Fun: Design, lead, and manage a comprehensive portfolio of recreational programs, including outdoor adventures (hiking, boating, fishing), fitness center operations, community center events, and social gatherings.
- Run the Business of Recreation: Take full ownership of the financial health of your programs. You will prepare and manage budgets, oversee funding, and make strategic decisions to ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of our morale, welfare, and recreation (MWR) activities.
- Forge Strategic Partnerships: Serve as the vital link between our station and the broader support network. You will actively communicate and collaborate with Hanscom Air Force Base Force Support Squadron (FSS), the New England USO, and various other local community partners to pool resources, co-host events, and maximize the recreational opportunities available to our personnel.
- Build a Thriving Community: Act as the primary point of contact for our community members. You will engage directly with customers to assess their needs, gather feedback, and ensure our programs are delivering an exceptional experience for everyone.
- Drive Strategy and Innovation: Look beyond the day-to-day to identify new opportunities, develop innovative programs, and continuously improve our services to meet the evolving needs of the New Boston community.

Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate is a creative and business-minded leader with a passion for building vibrant communities. You have a proven background in recreation or hospitality management, with demonstrated experience in taking programs from concept to execution. Your success comes from a unique blend of skills: you are just as comfortable developing a strategic plan and managing a complex budget as you are designing and marketing engaging events for a diverse population. You are an exceptional communicator and collaborator, skilled at building relationships, understanding customer needs, and fostering a team environment dedicated to service and excellence. Experience with financial management, particularly in an environment with multiple funding streams (like appropriated and non-appropriated funds), will be highly beneficial.
