Duties

Help
  • You will serve as Safety Data Assistant, providing specialized data management support services involving a wide variety of situations.
  • You will assist in researching mishap data to provide supporting documentation.
  • You will provide practical and technical support in matters relating to operational and policy aspects of safety databases, data entry, data collection, dictionary values, application packages, event reporting procedures.
  • You will liaise with diverse range of customers to translate their needs into precise language necessary to retrieve data.
  • You will act as Directorate's corporate memory on practical and technical mishap data retrieval methods and aspects of interface with Safety Application Network.
  • You will coordinate and conduct quality control review of Safety Investigation Reports, Mishap Data Reports, Hazard Reports and other sources of information for reportable events to ensure data are consistent.
  • You will assist division lead with training efforts for corporate database server, personal computer, and related information service functions required by the Department.
  • You will provide technical assistance to Head, Data Management and Services Division in iterative safety database development to optimize capabilities in generating safety information for internal and external customers.
  • You will monitor this database via close liaison with Directorate personnel.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing most or all of the following duties: (1) Independently query multiple databases for information in response to internal/external customer requests, and format the outputs into tables/spreadsheets easily utilized by the requester; (2) Recognizing inaccurate or incomplete data fields in all applicable databases during customer support queries, and submitting those fields for correction and storage in the original source; (3) Implementing methods to reduce repetitive data query and data quality tasks by automation of those tasks in the context of the data program of record and internally developed standard automation processes; (4) Conferring with database administrators for correct process and procedures; and (5) Communicating both orally and electronically with customers to provide efficient and effective customer support.
