Duties

Help
  • Assist the Commander in developing an aggressive and comprehensive safety and occupational health management program, compatible with HQDA and Forces Command (FORSCOM) missions.
  • Formulate and prepare command safety policy and initiates the development of command supplements and regulations on safety and occupational health.
  • Serve as technical advisor and trusted member of the Commander's personal staff and conduct in-depth analysis of trends and other statistical data to identify specific safety problems.
  • Perform a full range of supervisory functions providing guidance, direction, supervision and program oversight.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This is a Career Program-12 position. Incumbent must complete all required training and achieve the CP-12 Level 1 and Explosives Safety Level 1 professional certificates within 12 months.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a tier 3 background for this position.
  • Work requires frequent onsite surveys and temporary duty at field sites with prolonged standing, walking, crawling, climbing, bending, crouching, stretching, reaching and other physical movements. May traverse rough terrain.
  • This position is designated as Mission Essential. Incumbent may be required to report for duty during inclement weather, natural disasters, and other emergency situations as directed by the Commander.
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid stateside driver's license.
  • Must obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Vehicle driver's license within 30 days of employment and be able to maintain the same.
  • This is a drug testing designated position. In accordance with AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, the employee must successfully pass a urinalysis screening prior to the appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Temporary duty (TDY) may be required up to approximately 25% of the time on an annual basis.
  • Incumbent may be required to pass a medical examination and maintain immunizations.
  • Incumbent may be required to work nights, weekends, holidays and/or irregular duty hours commensurate with mission requirements.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized experience:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Managing safety program and advise personal at organization about a variety of safety and occupational health subjects, issues, policies or procedures; developing safety regulations and operating procedures to meet laws, requirements, and policies; AND planning the work to be accomplished by subordinate personnel, set, and adjust short-term priorities, also prepare schedules for completion of work. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13)

Education
