Duties

Help
  • Preforms preventive maintenance checks and services on equipment in accordance with technical manuals.
  • Fabricates equipment by using metal working equipment to assemble parts and prepare piping assemblies.
  • Verifies incoming shipments of stock and completes applicable transaction documentation.
  • Ensures work is performed according to established procedures and deadlines.
  • Provides guidance to other workers on procedures and methods.

  • This position is subject to Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements.
  • Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and/or respirators.
  • Must be able to obtain (within 6 months of employment) and retain at own expense a Class A Commercial Drivers license (CDL).
  • This position requires a medical examination prior to employment.
  • Must be able to obtain forklift certification.
  • Must be able to obtain and retain a Chemical Limited Area Badge.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Chemical Equipment Repairer Leader without more than normal supervision. Duties which include repairing industrial or chemical equipment; utilizing metal working tools for modification of defective parts; and providing guidance on work tasks to ensure compliance procedures. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Includes Blueprint Reading)
  • Ability to Lead or Supervise
  • Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
  • Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, and Repair, etc.
  • Technical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic)
  • Trouble shooting
  • Use of Measuring Instruments
  • Physical Effort: Incumbent lifts cartons of material, i.e., gloves, respirators, protective masks and hoods, protective suits and cleaning material, etc. weighing approximately 20 pounds. Occasionally items weighing up to 50 pounds may be Required to push, pull, reach, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, sit and long periods of standing.
  • Work Conditions: Work is performed inside the maintenance shop the majority of the time, with occasional outside duties in connection with performance tests of equipment. Work is subject to burns while testing flame throwers and smoke generators
