Duties

Help

This position is assigned to the Department of the Air Force Fisher House (DAFFH) and responsible forproviding assistance and/or support in the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the facility.

Duties and Responsibilities:Admin/Clerical: Assists in answering phones when needed and makes limited electronic entry of the Fisher House registration forms.Reports incident/injury rule violations to management. Generates and prints the housekeeping report. Assists volunteers inaccomplishment of their tasks. Provides volunteers and others with orientation tours of the facility areas.

Guest services: Assists guests with checking in/out. Demonstrates how to use room amenities. Responds to guest's special requests.Report any changes in status or areas of concern to management. Assures guest satisfaction by inquiring about comfort and needs.Elevates complaints to management. Provides general information and facility policies on access and behaviors.

Inventory: Collects lost and found items for issue and/or returned to guests. Checks household and inventory items for damage.Maintains inventory of linen and amenity items. Checks inventory of linens and cleaning materials. Monitors and issues replacementitems for guest rooms (i.e., bedding items, shower curtains, etc.). Counts linen items sent out and returned to facility for contractedcleaning. Accepts donations and disseminates items accordingly.

Facility Operations: Performs light housekeeping duties such as dusting, vacuuming, picking up and taking out trash. Implementsenergy efficiency by turning off electronic items and devices whenever possible. Performs minor maintenance and grounds keepsutilizing hand and motorized tools. Assists management in quality checks of rooms and common areas. Inspects wear and tear of itemsin room. Identifies items needing replacement. Performs minor repairs on equipment. Replaces items and updates inventory listaccordingly. Controls hazardous materials and pest control chemical usage, Safety Data Sheet (SDS) binders and proper signage.Initiates and submits maintenance work order items. Adheres to safety and physical security regulations and standards. Accompaniescontractors, emergency personnel and other laborers as necessary while in the buildings to ensure guest safety. Ensures the security of allbuildings. May operate government vehicles (sedan, trucks, golf carts, etc.) to transport supplies or guests to and from medical treatmentfacilities upon request.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have housekeeping and customer service experience. Must have computer proficiency in automated systems.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Practical knowledge and/or experience with rules and procedures in a DAFFH preferred.
2. Applicants with experience which provides a working familiarity with the routines and procedures followed in Fisher House or lodging facilities preferred.
3. Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.
4. Ability to perform housekeeping, light maintenance and grounds keeping (i.e., painting, replacing light bulbs, AC filters, repairing light furniture damage).
5. Practical knowledge and/or experience with hazardous chemicals, pest control and bio-hazardous materials.
6. Ability to occasionally lift and carry objects weighing 50 lbs. and with assistance for objects weighing over 50 lbs. Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and reach for a long period of time.

Education

Please join our team in sunny San Antonio, TX. Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) is situated in San Antonio (Bexar County), the seventh largest city and known as "Military City, USA". Encompassing JBSA are Fort Sam Houston, Lackland AFB, and Randolph AFB, three separate installations.

The mission of Fort Sam Houston, located northeast of downtown, is medical training and support and is home to San Antonio Military Medical Center.

The primary mission at Lackland AFB, located southwest of the city, is training: basic military, technical, English language and technical training in Spanish to allied countries.

Randolph AFB is located northeast of the city and houses several headquarters including Air Education & Training Command (AETC), Air Force Personnel Center (AFPC), and Air Force Headquarters Recruiting Services.
