This National Guard position is for a SECURITY SPECIALIST (T32), PD# D0755000 and is part of the RI 143 Security Forces Squadron. Serves as the Security Police NCOIC for the ANG Security Police Squadron tenant on an active duty, AFRES or other DOD component.

Duties

Help

Aggressively facilitates, and leads security police programs at an Air National Guard Base, to include installation security, air base ground defense, conventional weapon systems security, law enforcement, training, resource protection, information security, personnel security, industrial security, wartime information security, and security classification management.
Plans, organizes, and directs security police activities. Plans, organizes and directs activities and programs to support base activities such as; security, resource protection, law enforcement, and information security programs. Coordinates and develops contingency plans for confrontation management, base defense, information and personnel security and resource protection plans.
Coordinates the deployment of personnel and individual and unit equipment. Develops and implements policies to ensure program effectiveness and efficient use of personnel and equipment. Coordinates detailed procedures and instructions for such functions as prevention of unauthorized entry of restricted areas and mission essential resources, use of personnel and equipment. Administers security police training programs. Plans for the employment of electronic physical security equipment to ensure the most efficient and economical devices are implemented to achieve required levels of security consistent with existing threat levels.
Initiates programming and budgeting actions for initial acquisition, modification, and replacement of security police facilities, vehicles, equipment, and other resources.
Directs security police activities. Assigns and directs security police personnel in emergency operations, including security, law enforcement, and air base defense; crash and disaster control activities; and civil or internal disorders. Analyzes security police facilities, sensor and alarm systems, vehicles, weapons, and other equipment to ensure operational effectiveness. Directs the conduct of training programs to meet local and mobility mission requirements. Ensures professional standards of performance within security police activities through management, supervisory, and inspection programs.
Performs technical security police functions. Analyzes security and law enforcement reports and statistics.
Monitors and directs security police programs. Monitors Air Force and ANG training standards. Analyzes newly developed equipment and weaponry. Initiates programming and budgeting actions for acquisition, modification, and replacement of security police facilities, vehicles, and equipment.

  • NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is an excepted service position that requires current membership in a compatible military assignment in the Rhode Island Air National Guard.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment of the Gun Control Act . An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
  • This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration.
  • For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver’s license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.

Military Grades: E-5 through E-7

Compatible Military Assignments: For Dual-Status Technician positions service affiliation under Title 32 USC 709 is required.
Military skill set is determined by AFSC/MOS requirements. Upon selection, individuals must be assigned to a compatible military AFSC/MOS in accordance with statutes and National Guard Bureau regulations and must obtain/maintain all requirements of the AFSC/MOS.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately. Able to apply procedures and directives by reading and interpreting technical material. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing, using presentation and report formats. Demonstrated ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures. Learned ability to assess the surrounding environment to recognize immediate risk levels. Must have the education and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade for one of the seven organizational program disciplines and its applicable Security Series career.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience time requirements of 1 year equivalent to at least next lower grade level.

Indefinite employment is defined as an excepted appointment with indefinite time limitations and is used when the appointment is expected to extend beyond one year. Should the need for the indefinite time limitations placed on this position no longer exist, the indefinite appointment could be converted to permanent action without further competition and you may be required to serve a trial period upon conversion.
If an applicant from the Competitive Service is selected, he or she will have to convert to the Excepted Service.

  • Principles of deployment operational capabilities, limitations, vulnerabilities, basic phenomenology and technology of electronic and other security equipment
  • Employment of security police weapons
