Duties

Help
  • Perform routine maintenance of equipment
  • Maintain stock of room and cleaning supplies to perform assigned duties
  • Ensure rooms, corridors, stairways and other areas are clean
  • Maintain cleanliness of walls, windows, blinds and ceiling fixtures using ladders, scaffolds and safety belt
  • Required standing and walking on hard and carpeted surfaces with some bending, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of items or carts weighing up to 20 to 40 pounds, and occasionally over 50 pounds.

  • Appointment is subject to the completion of a favorable suitability determination.

Education

  • The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is defined as Ft. Sam Houston, TX (Bexar) and surrounding area within 50-mile radius; in addition to, you are considered eligible if one of the following applies: 1) you live outside of this area and are able to commute to work on a daily/as needed basis, 2) you are able to relocate yourself on your own expenses, 3) you are an involuntarily separated military member, or 4) you are a military spouse relocating to this installation (eligibility begins 30 days before the military sponsor's reporting date at the new duty location).(Military Spouse Preference (MSP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) eligible candidates are included in the area of consideration).
Salary Information:
New FWS appointments will be made at the minimum step rate for the appropriate grade
Hourly rate is: NA-02 : $18.17 to $21.20 Per Hour

Step 5: $21.20
except as follows:
1) Garrison commanders or equivalent are authorized to make appointments at the second step rate in recognition of special qualifications, skills, and experience of an exceptional or highly specialized nature.
2) Upon reemployment and reinstatement to a NAF position, the entrance salary may be fixed at any rate for the appropriate grade that does not exceed the rate paid during the previous employment. However, if the highest previous rate falls between two rates of the grade, the employee may be paid at the higher rate.

Allowances and Differentials
  • This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
Scheduling Information:
  • Below defines theemployment category for this position:
    - Part-Time (at least 20 guaranteed work hours per week (may be scheduled be scheduled between 20-39 hours per week)
  • Work schedule to be determined after hire.

U.S. Army Medical Command

Army Fisher Houses (AFHs) are temporary lodging facilities that are built and donated to the Army by the Fisher House Foundation (FHF). The AFHP consists of 17 homes at 11 Army installations across the globe supporting the respective Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) campuses with 172 resident guest suites.

AFH is owned, operated, and maintained by the Department of the U.S. Army. The U.S. AFH Fund is a Non-Appropriated Instrumentality (NAFI) supplemental mission at Headquarters, U.S. Army Medical Command (MEDCOM) Fort Sam Houston, TX. The U.S. AFH NAFI is the Army's single fund administering the operation, maintenance, and improvement of all AFHs.

AFHs offer a home away from home at no cost for families of patients receiving medical care at an MTF. With comfortable accommodations that allow Military & Veteran families to from all branches of service to focus on the medical care and recovery of their loved ones. The houses are well stocked with community kitchens and inviting common areas. Guests are warmly welcomed by caring and compassionate staff members who offer encouragement and provide families with information about resources and services available to help meet their needs.
