Duties

Help
  • Serves as a Housing Manager located at an Army garrison responsible for direct, on-site management, administration and implementation of projects, facilities, or complexes in support of the Housing Services Office (HSO).
  • Briefs and counsels members transferring to the installation who seek assistance in locating housing within the local area.
  • Serves as a point of contact for real estate agents, landlords and/or property managers in the locale and maintains an office registry of real estate agents for distribution upon customer request.
  • Gathers and compiles data for a variety of reports pertinent to availability of housing, quarterly data on customer service, and Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) surveys.
  • Investigates, mediates, and closes out rental complaints by and/or between landlords and tenants involving such issues as unpaid/overdue rent, security deposits, condition of the rental unit, damages, lack of repairs, and lease breaking.

  • Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a valid state driver’s license and any installation and/or DoD license required for the type of vehicle being driven.

  • Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) may be required occasionally.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes:1) Conducting briefings and training sessions to multiple levels of audiences; 2) Researching legal and lease transaction documents to ensure compliance; 3) Compiling data for various reports relating to areas such as availability of housing, data on customer service, or housing market surveys and analysis; and 4) Investigating and mediating complaints. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: housing management, management, real estate, property management, asset management, facilities management, etc.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
