Duties

Help

  • Performs first level supervisory duties over assigned employees.
  • Serves as the Air Force focal point for planning, management, and coordination of logistics sustainment, support, and modification for all AFSOC AC/EC/MC-130 assets.
  • Serves as the command's senior aircraft maintenance technical advisor for assigned assets.
  • Serves as the command focal point for building budgetary requirements and acts as the sole technical representative and Primary Contracting Office Representative (COR) in support of Contract Maintenance Team(s) for assigned systems.

  • Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
  • Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
  • This position may require frequent travel or long periods away from the normal duty station to include CONUS or overseas and may include remote or isolated sites.
  • This is a Centrally Managed Position in the logisitics Career Field.
  • "This is a Supervisory Position." A 1-year supervisory probationary period is required if applicant selected has not previously met this requirement.
  • Based on operational necessity, Temporary Duty (TDY) away from home base in support of other HQ AFSOC units may require travel by military or commercial aircraft. TDY may be short notice.
  • The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays and/or overtime. Must be able to obtain and maintain a top-secret security clearance.
  • The employee is required to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance as a condition of employment.
  • May be required to acquire and maintain certification(s), such as Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP). Employee is expected to meet continuing Acquisition Education requirements.
  • Employee may be required to submit an initial and annual SF 450 (Financial Disclosure) in accordance with the Joint Ethics Regulation.
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment, and participation in random drug testing.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Equipment Services Series,1670.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includesIn-depth knowledge of a wide range of maintenance concepts, principles, and practices of the agency AC-130J/U/W, EC-130J, MC-130H, MC-130P and MC-130J aircraft systems, sub-systems, and equipment; including related security and safety regulations, practices, and procedures.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

  1. In-depth knowledge of a wide range of maintenance concepts, principles, and practices of the agency AC-130J/U/W,EC-130J, MC-130H, MC-130P and MC-130J aircraft systems, sub-systems, and equipment; including related security and safety regulations, practices, and procedures.
  2. Skill in analyzing and interpreting engineering drawings, technical manuals, and technical data; identifying and analyzing complex technical problems; and developing innovative solutions to problems.
  3. Skill in providing technical advice in terms of oral and written briefings, reports, and recommendations to senior leadership, maintenance management, and maintenance personnel; and ability to exercise a high degree of initiative and judgment in recognizing and taking appropriate action on critical and/or controversial problems regarding highly complex technical logistics programs.
  4. Ability to apply agency budgetary policies including POM and PPBE procedures as they apply to the aircraft depot maintenance budgets and programmed depot maintenance programs, to include Air Force directed two- and three-level maintenance concepts. AMR experience and/or knowledge is highly desirable.
  5. Skill to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  6. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of a small organization; and ability to apply personnel management policies, practices, regulations, and procedures to adjust work operations to meet emergencies; change program or production, safety, and security requirements within available resources and with minimum sacrifice of quantity or quality of work; and establish program objectives or performance goals and assess progress toward their achievement.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
