Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) employees in the competitive service on a career or career conditional appointment. Eligible displaced and surplus Department of Justice (DOJ) employees in the local commuting area.
Providing liaison support between the Headquarters (HQ) and Division customers on various ongoing and emerging initiatives.
Analyzing and evaluating relationships between financial and accounting operating programs and the financial state of the organization.
Recommending and revising annual and supplemental funding requests.
Reviewing accounting records and program funds for compliance and accuracy.
Monitoring transactions flowing through DEA's financial management system, and ensure personnel are accurately processing, supporting, and posting financial data.
Providing proactive and timely coordination of year-end closeout process to DEA and customers in the Area of Responsibility.

Basic Qualification Requirements: The Accounting Series 0510 has Individual Occupational Requirements (IORs), which must be met in addition to the specialized experience.
Basic Qualification Requirements:
A. Degree: accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. (The term "accounting" means "accounting and/or auditing" in this standard. Similarly, "accountant" should be interpreted, generally, as "accountant and/or auditor.")
OR
B. Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following:
Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality. This can include up to 6 hours of business law;
A certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination; or
Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing, e.g., 15 semester hours, but that does not fully satisfy the 24-semester-hour requirement of paragraph A, provided that (a) the applicant has successfully worked at the full-performance level in accounting, auditing, or a related field, e.g., valuation engineering or financial institution examining; (b) a panel of at least two higher level professional accountants or auditors has determined that the applicant has demonstrated a good knowledge of accounting and of related and underlying fields that equals in breadth, depth, currency, and level of advancement that which is normally associated with successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in paragraph A; and (c) except for literal nonconformance to the requirement of 24 semester hours in accounting, the applicant's education, training, and experience fully meet the specified requirements.

Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying accounting laws, principles, systems, policies, methods, and practices to provide comprehensive guidance to managers, employees and/or customers; 2) Analyzing and evaluating reports from financial systems; 3) Gathering financial data from various sources related to a specific financial issue; and, 4) Researching accounting policies and laws to resolve complex and common issues.

Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Designing and executing an on-going quality assurance; 2) Identifying regulatory and accounting changes, resource control functions, and operating level problems to ensure funds are efficiently controlled and financial records accurately reflect the status of the organization's financial conditions; 3) Validating and consolidating cost data entered into accounting systems; 4) Overseeing and resolving problems of the server, network devices, storage, and client devices, support IT systems of all end users on a daily basis by monitoring, and troubleshooting; and 5) Coordinating financial processing cycles and assists customers with clearing abnormal conditions and resolves outstanding issues.
