Summary

About the Position: Serves as the Director of a Civilian Human Resources Service Center (CHRSC) providing staffing support to Army Staff, Army Command (ACOM), Army Service Component Command (ASCC), and/or Direct Reporting Unit (DRU) customers. The CHRSC is located within a Civilian Services Civilian Human Resources Directorate in the Civilian Human Resources Agency (CHRA).

Duties

Help
  • Plans and directs a Civilian Human Resources Directorate, which provides civilian personnel services to a large and/or multi-mission civilian workforce.
  • Advises on operational recruitment and placement programs and strategies, strategic human capital planning activities, workforce reshaping, and other complex processes affecting entire Army Staffing ACOM, ASCC, and/or DRUs.
  • Contacts managers or staff of support organizations to assist in solving problems or to achieve expeditious action.
  • Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work.
  • Provides advice, counseling, or instructions to employees on both work and administrative matters.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service which includes supervising and managing civilian human resource operations; determining effective use of human capital and policies to improve human resource support; developing long-rang human resource plans, program operations, and projects necessary to accomplish organizational goals; providing technical advice and assistance to Commanders and senior management concerning personnel programs and policies.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
