Duties

Help
  • Serves as the J2 Information Systems Security Officer (SSO) for the organization.
  • Employs knowledge of intelligence disciplines, programs, and processes together with expertise of SCI systems to enable the efforts of personnel involved in operations and all aspects of intelligence operations and critical processes.
  • Assists SSO in setting, developing, and providing guidance to all Combined Operational Environment (COE) and Special Operations Command Research Analysis and Threat Evaluation System SOCRATES site users on IA policies and procedures.
  • Manages the design, configuration, quality assurance, procurement, and installation of new intelligence information systems.
  • Serves as the Special Operations Command South, Chief, Intelligence Systems Branch and Systems Program Manager.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Requires occasional temporary duty (TDY) travel for brief periods. TDY travel to foreign countries in the USSOUTHCOM AOR is required at 10% or less of the time to support contingency missions.
  • Two year trial period may be required.
  • Subject to on-call during off-duty hours and weekends to handle emergency action.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Security Plus certification and current certification for Information Assurance Management (IAM) Level I within six (6) months of appointment, per DoD Publication 8570.01-M.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one (1) year of experience to the next lower grade (GG/GS-12) which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: 1. Experience with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) network planning and operations AND 2. Experience developing new methods, approaches, and/or procedures using intelligence information systems AND
3. Experience with managing intelligence information security systems for a variety of intelligence related disciplines, such as, Human Intelligence (HUMINT), Counterintelligence (CI), Signal Intelligence (SIGINT), and Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT).

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

-Program Management


Progressively responsible experience is that which has included intelligence-related research, analysis, collections and /or operations. This experience should have included intelligence analysis and/or production, intelligence collection and/or operations, counterintelligence, or threat support directly related to the position to be filled. This experience should demonstrate: Knowledge of intelligence processes, cycle and organizations; Knowledge of and/or ability to use research tools such as library holdings, photographs, statistics, graphics and maps; Knowledge of the systems, procedures and methods of analyzing, compiling, reporting and disseminating intelligence data; and/or Knowledge of organization(s) for and methods of collecting and analyzing intelligence data.
