The United States Space Force (USSF) at Los Angeles Space Force Base is searching for a Government SAP Security Officer for IP (NH-0080-03, GS-12/13 Equivalent).

Position may be staffed at LA AFB, CA or Peterson SFB, CO

Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Government SAP Security Officer (GSSO) to protect our nation's most critical assets, personnel, and information. In this vital role, you will be on the front lines, leading security efforts in a fast-paced environment and upholding the highest standards of protection. We are looking for a dynamic leader who can thrive in a fast-paced environment and is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of security. If you are a strategic thinker dedicated to safeguarding national security, we need your expertise on our team.

Ideal Candidate:
In-depth knowledge of Space System Command, ability to effectively lead, motivate, and provide guidance to Program Executive Offices and System Program Managers. Operate in dynamic organization structure and skill to communicate both orally and in writing. The candidate must exhibit a mastery of problem-solving and the ability to understand complex security challenges/issues. Ability to establish and maintain relationships with key individuals/groups within and outside immediate work including other DAF HQ Security Enterprise, and ability to advise senior leaders, System Delta Commander and System Delta offices.

Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of a wide range of security specialties, concepts, principles, criteria, requirements, technology, and practices.
2. Knowledge of the Special Access Program enterprise to support and promote information sharing and strategies.
3. Knowledge of required security training concepts, programs, procedures, and practices to assist managers in establishing and operating internal security programs.
4. Skill in the use of analytical principles, practices, and techniques to review and evaluate security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security program for the organization.
5. Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
6. Ability to organize work, set priorities, and determine resource requirements; determine goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinate with other organizations; monitor progress, and evaluate outcomes.
7. Ability to identify problems and use sound judgment and decisions to generate and evaluate alternatives and make recommendations.

  • Must be a U.S Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret /SCI security clearance.
  • Safeguards classified or sensitive budget-related information and/or files.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed “Unscheduled Telework”.
  • This position will close after 5 business days or 75 applications, whichever comes first.
  • Employee may be required to perform travel by military or commercial passenger aircraft in the performance of temporary duty assignments.
  • PCS/Incentive funding is not authorized.
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment, and participation in random drug testing.
  • Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): 15 days a year.
  • Employee needs to obtain and maintain approval to access the portfolio of Special Access Programs required to perform daily duties.
