Duties

Help
  • You will coordinate and reviews the Headquarters Marine Corps processing of requests for retired Uniformed Services Identification and Privilege Cards.
  • You will prepare and presents briefs to various organizations and conferences within and outside the Marine Corps on retired entitlements and benefits and Marine Corps processes for making these determinations.
  • You will Applying law, regulations, policy and procedures, analyzes records and determines the correct procedural method(s) for retaining or recalling officers and enlisted Marines on various retired Lists to active duty.
  • You will be applying laws, DoD regulations and Marine Corps policy and procedures, computes or certifies statements of service documenting active and reserve creditable service for officers and enlisted Marines.
  • You will assist the Section Head in prioritizes, schedules, reviews and adjusts routine work, multiple projects and supporting work of section employees as necessary for the accomplishment of Section's mission and specified deadlines.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • As a condition of employment, this position may be subject to rotational assignments.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

GS-07

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-05) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Assisting by answering phone calls, written, or responding to correspondence in a timely manner to retirees, family members, and outside agencies on military personnel matters.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-07) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing clear, accurate guidance to Marines, retirees, survivors, and command relatives regarding retirement benefits and pay issues to establish or verify entitlements.

Education

FOR THE GS-07 LEVEL:
Successful completion of at least one full year of graduate level education
or
superior academic achievement.


FOR THE GS-09 LEVEL:
Master's or equivalent graduate degree
or
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.B. or J.D., if related.
