This position is located in Tucson, Arizona with the 162nd ARW. The purpose of this position is to supervise workers, either directly or through one or more subordinate leaders, in accomplishing the operations of a distinct organizational unit and to perform associated non-supervisory work. The occupation and non-supervisory grade level which best reflects the nature of the overall work operations supervised is Aircraft Ordnance Systems Mechanic, WG-6652-11.

  • ARIZONA AIR NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. Prior to appointment into this position, selectee must be a current member of the Arizona Air National Guard, in a military position assigned to 162D.
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guar, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a trial period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Incumbent must possess and maintain a current state driver's license.
  • This position is subject to rotating or night shift work.
  • Incumbent must possess a Secret Security Clearance.

Military Grades: TSgt/E-6 (immediately promotable) to MSgt/E-7

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

In addition to the journeyman level knowledge (Experience or training in planning and layout of repair sequence and ability to complete modification, repair, and installation of ordnance systems. Experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting malfunctions and determining remedies where complex relationships exist. Experience in hand tools and the use of a variety of measuring and test equipment. Experience in interpreting technical directions, blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer's specifications.), experience demonstrating the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments of lower grade personnel. Applicant must possess 36 months of experience which required the review of work requirements and establishing priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.

1.Knowledge in planning weekly or monthly work schedules and sequence of operations. Establish deadlines and priorities based on established general schedules, methods and policies.

2.Ability to assign tasks to be performed. Explain work requirements, methods, and procedures. Instruct subordinates on new procedures or methods and provide assistance on difficult or new problem areas.

3.Ability to perform the non-supervisory work of the function as needed.

4.Ability to implement safety regulatory requirements and ensure that subordinates wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions.

5.Skill in preparing for and participating in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises.
