Duties

Help
  • Receive and escorts patients to exam or dressing rooms.
  • Screen patients, verifies eligibility, and schedules radiology appointments.
  • Retrieve, files, and updates patient imaging records electronically.
  • Assist patients with restroom needs, including bedpans and urinals.
  • Drape, positions, and holds patients during procedures as needed.
  • Help maintain supply levels in procedure rooms.
  • Clean procedure rooms and equipment after use and keep waiting areas, dressing rooms, and bathrooms clean and organized.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required with childcare background check.
  • Required to be screened for and obtain necessary immunizations/vaccinations (hepatitis, influenza, etc.), unless exempted by a licensed physician.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 20 pounds is required.
  • Pre-employment physical required and annually thereafter.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
  • Seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants selected for appointment to this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • This position is required to work uncommon tours of duty hours such as, on-call, working either fixed or rotating shifts, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
  • This position is Inclement Weather Essential. This means that you must be willing to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and/or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. General and/or Specialized Experience: Six months of general experience (1) in any type of work that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position, or (2) experience that provided a familiarity with receiving, interviewing, and escorting patients AND six months of specialized experience which includes screening patients, maintaining imaging records, and assisting in radiology procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-03).

OR

Education: Two years of education above the high school level that included at least 12 semester hours in subjects related to the position, such as, Radiologic Technology, Health Sciences, Biology, or Nursing.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education by 60. Add the two percentages.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
